Avoiding them can cause more trouble since making noises can get their suspicion up.
For example: One time I was alone about 5 years ago. I was 17. It was some of my very first urban exploration journey. I saw a guy, and ignored him and walked the different direction. I stepped on a stick and he heard, and saw me. I went to grab my bike and rode it away, that guy ended up knocking on my door and told my parents they were jehovas witnesses.
When I say "avoid", I mean be quite and keep moving. Like I said, it depends on who catches you, some people won't give a single shit. Others may chase you till you reach home.
There's a 13 mile stretch of abandoned highway in Pennsylvania lined with old buildings, houses and such. Me and some buddies of mine are gonna take a few days to go on a back packing trip there. As far as I can tell, it's pretty frequently traveled.
Here's a video of some people doing pretty much what we're about to do.

Gonna be fun on the bun.
Been there, it's a great time, and going to go back in the fall. Just so you know, the only abandoned structures around or on the turnpike are the interiors and maintenance areas of the tunnels themselves. They used to be a welcome center/service station type building but it was demolished years ago.
This isn't really the right place, but I don't think it's worthy of a thread. I went to Oradour-sur-Glane which is a French town the SS pillaged, killing 642 inhabitants, including women and children.
It's in Limousin, France. They left the town more or less as it was back then, and allow people to look through the town today.
If anybody wants to see more I can put a thread up, otherwise I'm not sure if it counts since it's a historical site, and I didn't really "break in".

Make a thread man
:words:
Seems nice. I think it deserves it's own thread
Thanks, I've made one. You couldn't really go into these buildings so I wasn't sure if it counted. I mean, you wouldn't want to anyways, everything is so old you may break something historical.
The buildings were burned down so there wasn't much more than rubble and a few items. They were pretty good about letting you go everywhere , including inside the church.
-snip it can't go to japan fucking work-
I'm going Urbexing with my cousins for the first time in about a month. We are going to like some abandoned shit in the woods
I live in Massachusetts and there's this hospital that's been abandoned for about 14 years about a mile away from my house, some guy took pictures of it and it looks like a good first Urbex, should I go?

For buildings that size, I'm pretty sure the state owns the land (and the building) and there is a heavy chance they will have guards.

I suggest going then. Looks fun. Bring a camera and take pictures too

Never really done any urbex, but I was just with a friend wandering around one of the forests when I came across this tower. Completely accessible, there aren't any "no trespassing" signs, and there's a manhole underneath that we could get into if we wanted to. I started climbing, but closer to the top the ladder actually wasn't stable at all. Yeah, so I decided to come down haha. We're gonna come back with some ropes and harnesses for safety (mountaineering and climbing experience) and get to the top and maybe go under, too.
There's also an abandoned water treatment plant near by. These two sites may very well be what introduces us to the urbex world.
I occasionally go for walks around my college campus and try to get into places that look like fun. There's some really fucking cool graffiti if you know where to look.
Apologies for shit quality, all pics taken with my phone.
Got some sick tag-spots around my area too.
Love seeing what people make of modern ruins.
I went into an old unused basement in a theater earlier today, not exactly urbex, but the friend I was with sounded intrigued when I brought the subject up.
After I explained to them what it is, we agreed to go on a roadtrip later this year to another state and visit an amusement park that closed down when they were young.
So there is that to look forward to.
Can't find any locations, I live in a seaside resort town. Any ideas as to where I should look?
Hey, i live in poole, havent had much luck finding anywhere recently too, mabye sometime i might get off my ass and have a look around for a place or 2.
Problem is, around our area, the land is worth ALOT so as a result most abandoned places are kind of quickly built on, ones that arnt are usually filled with crackheads and addicts.
I think I found a place near my house which has a weird house i see in the forest
i dunno if i should go though
