Thinking back to the old days where I had a lot of troubles, decided to go with my cousin to a abandoned school building which was going to be demolished soon, get in there and wreck the shit out of everything. I gotta say, not exactly urbexing, but I was dealing with a lot of stress that time.
went for a ride today, found a freshly vacated laundry detergent plant type thing, spent the night in the jungle gym
Anyone here live in/around Saint Louis, MO? Looking to explore the Carter Carb Factory with a friend in the next month or so and I'm trying to gather info on it. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Ha9C6br.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/VW2uQEv.jpg[/thumb] Looks pretty damn cool.
the best info you'll gather is with your eyes
I live like an hour away from the lou, although I've never did this before, it sounds cool and I'd definitely drop money down on gear to do it.
Yeah I'm like two hours away. I've already put in a lot (for me, anyway) of cash on gear - mostly a good respirator and filters, the place is a hive of asbestos apparently. Satellite image shows it's kinda right in the middle of a suburban area, unfortunately. Looks like the rear side is totally boarded up too. Front looks open enough behind the fence. Doing a recon trip in about two weeks, hopefully I'll be able to get some useful stuff/pics. I'll put them up when I get them in case anyone is near STL and is thinking about checking it out. I'll be damned if I don't get to check out that cool-ass thing on top in the last picture.
Did a little looking around at the Carter Carb Factory the other day. Place is a lot bigger and a lot more secure than it looked on Google Maps. Got a brand new razor wire fence a few years back when the EPA tried (and failed miserably) to clean it up. Still gonna try to get in in a few weeks time, just gonna be a little harder than expected.
I wish this forum was bigger, running out of stuff to read :/ There are some pretty sweet pictures in this thread though

It's a bit dangerous trying to run and jump here (friend is into that crap.) Has anyone ever slept in the abandoned place they found or no? I almost did it but thought it was to dangerous
Has anyone ever slept in the abandoned place they found or no? I almost did it but thought it was to dangerous
I've slept on the HMS Plymouth, in a quarry, and partially in pyestock. The rest wasnt great but atleast i woke up with all my kidneys.
Sleeping in an abandoned place while urbexing just sounds crazy to me
Man, i love living 15 miles from detroit. i'll never run out of spots to explore.
I live 15 miles away from Detroit too :P There's certainly a lot of good spots

I just watch a bunch of analogy shows with that.
I got bored today so i went somewhere which I walk to all the time. I am not sure if it's abandoned but no trains go by there so it's pretty cool. I'm having a bit of a problem, imgur is uploading them in a weird way, not upright. Can someone help? photos of railroad

I can't help you out with the orientation problem, sorry :/ I don't have any cool abandoned railroads in my area because the county adopted this "Rails to Trails" program that turns old railroads into walking/biking trails. Kinda sad, but makes sense.
Seeing as the tops of the rails are quite rusty, you can atleast presume that the line isnt frequently used. Sometimes, though, you get spurs that are used once in a week to serve some industry or another. Try googling around for RRs in your area or some maps that designate ownership. Ive even heard of towns having ownership of RR spurs once the companies dont want to operate there anymore. I doubt the lines are turly abandoned, maybe unused, but not abandoned.
Finally set a date to go explore the Carter Factory that I posted about in this thread awhile ago. Buying all the gear over the next few weeks, hopefully I'll be able to get a good post up about it after I go. [editline]17th April 2014[/editline] On a semi-related note, rope ladders are weirdly expensive. I was really expecting to pay about 20 bucks for a 20 foot one, but it turns out they're more like 20 bucks per foot.
I might be going to an old cement plant today. If I do, I'll make a thread
One time, my friends went out on a Urbex without me. To my surprise they come back with a Heap of Playboys and grins on their faces. We hid them in separate locations so if any of them were discovered not all would be taken (One in a elementary school bush). Eventually the rain got to them ruining them all, but you can still find the remnants. That was a good day.
I think I have found a Place for a Ubex. All I know it is a Mansion, and that it has been there for at least one Decade. I do not know if it is Abandoned, but the roof looks torn up, so I am not sure. Here is a Google maps Picture.

But if you don't live too far away, you have to go there and post images here.

So that draws me to the conclusion the "Roof" is a trick of the light or that this is a false rumor. Nether the less I am planning a Recon to check it out. Summer is almost here for me, so I might do it in a couple of weeks or on a Saturday.

I'd say that image is atleast 2 years old. So lot might have happened.

[editline]10th May 2014[/editline] hrm. bings shit is pretty old too now that i look at it.
There's an abandoned youth correctional facility an hour from me. It's in a real sketchy area. Here's a maps pic:
