Yeah, it's not the hate or violence it creates, or the stupid claims it makes, it's this.
I was meaning the fact that religious extremists make a bad name for religion by being so arrogant.
so you think Fatboy and Dumdum is better then all the 90 shows are you saying all the new shows are better. well they ARENT
i'm not sure where i said new shows are better so if you could point it out for me that'd be great thanks
i hated ALL THE SHOWS I was watching National Geographic and Discovery Channel from day 1.
Invader zim was a great show. Sure scene kids ruined it but it was still a great show..They are gonna show reruns in march which will be great..but still..I hope Jhonen gets back into animation.
Invader Zim was awesome too, what a shame it happened that way.
hahaha the ads. The Christians can't be blamed for this as he also mentioned The Fairly Oddparents which ran for a very long time (It may still be today, I'm not sure.) and is pretty much Nickelodeon's second favorite show. The last time I was paying attention it was not very well liked, but Nickelodeon has continued to allow it to run despite it devolving into Pop culture references and having to pull the "Baby comes out of nowhere" gimmick to keep it alive. I've always thought it was because of the time it happened to show up. If I recall it started around the early-mid 2000s, when they had sort of just came out of a Dark age. (the first few years of the 2000s were full of short-lived shows that didn't do well and were based off of their 90s formula, alot of it's 90s gems had ended, Spongebob wasn't at it's peak yet, and it's original juggernaut "Rugrats" was in decline.) At the time Zim started they struck gold with Spongebob's hugely successful 3rd season so they were probably looking for shows more like Spongebob and less like the 90s nicktoons that sort of started that dark age. Invader Zim was more like the 90s nicktoons while Fairly Oddparents was more like Spongebob, so they probably considered Zim to be "too risky" and dropped him.
what ever happened with the whole bloody Gir thing? Some people claimed that was part of the reason...
what ever happened with the whole bloody Gir thing? Some people claimed that was part of the reason...
I believe Nickelodeon didn't find the image until after the show was canceled.
I believe Nickelodeon didn't find the image until after the show was canceled.
ok, thanks for clearing that up.
I could understand the show failing because of ratings. I only got to watch a few episodes of it because Nick screwed around with it's time slot and schedule so much. Half the time I didn't know when the damn thing was airing. And here I thought Fox only pulled that crap.
ok, thanks for clearing that up.
I also made this mirror based off of the bloody gir image a while back. [img_thumb]http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/2573/girmirror.png[/img_thumb]
Yeah, it's not the hate or violence it creates, or the stupid claims it makes, it's this.
Atheists don't hate on religious people? Hurf durf :downs:
When Invader Zim was launched along with The Fairly OddParents, Christian Parenting Today criticised both programs negatively, calling them "non-Christian", "immoral" and "insulting towards Christian values and beliefs".
Hey, guess what, don't fuckin' watch it. That's why you have a remote. [editline]05:00AM[/editline]
Atheists don't hate on religious people? Hurf durf :downs:
Can you blame us?
Christians need to lay the hell off of stuff that isn't Christian. Every other religion does it, so why not Christian?
because of "Evangelism" and I know all the fuck about it. Fuck I hate going to a christian school.
i like all the people who will make fun of Family Guy because it's random and then turn around and say invader zim is the best thing ever made
I thought it was cancelled because it was too dark for a kids show.
They just have to ruin everything..
I never noticed the bloody gir image. Creepy :ohdear:
I loved this show, I have great memories of sitting down with my dad and watching 2 episodes every summer weeknight from 12AM to 1AM.
Invader Zim was critically accepted, winning two awards and nominations for the first episode . Since its cancellation, it has acquired renewed acclaim, with a 9.1/10 rating on TV.com and a 9.2/10 on IMDb. The DVD release has also renewed interest and re-evaluation of the show, receiving high scores and sales. Invader Zim did not escape criticism. When Invader Zim was launched along with The Fairly OddParents, Christian Parenting Today criticised both programs negatively, calling them "non-Christian", "immoral" and "insulting towards Christian values and beliefs". More negative criticism came when Invader Zim was cited in the murder trial of Scott Dyleski. The prosecution asserted that the defendant had a fascination with images of body parts. They drew attention to comments he had made after watching the Invader Zim episode "Dark Harvest", where Zim collects human organs in an attempt to appear more human. Witnesses for the defense said that the comments were made in jest. So it was pretty much christians who got it banned and it wasnt the bloody gir
Christian groups complain about everything. I don't see how some religious nut's article about a TV show, published in a Christian magazine nobody but other religious nuts read could force a major multi-billion dollar media company to cancel a highly successful TV show. The reason IZ got cancelled was because Viacom felt the show was too dark and gritty for a children's animation. Hence the reason why most of the show's fans are between the ages of 16-21. [editline]07:53AM[/editline]
Ban atheism
You can't do that because we'd be violating Atheists' religious rights.
I live well without any gods. Im not crazy and I dont wish death to other religions. Why must every dumb person who has iron fist ideas and lots of power that doesnt belongs to him/her do this kinda stuff?
I bought that show a year or so ago on a friend's suggestion. I thought it was pretty darn funny. Fucking gosh darn churches, having their own beliefs and opinions on things. Invader Zim was prolly canceled because the show was disturbingly violent. This was around the time when the FCC started coming down hard on Children's cartoons.
My friend told me it was canceled because it was too good or something like that.
Butt it was becuz god sed it was a bad sho! :downs:
