dave lombardo man he aint the most technical but man those chops <3 my instructor is also amazed at how long i can push myself at high speeds. he has been playing for almost 30 years and said he can't do what i do. makes me feel like im good at something.
ONE think I hate is going *core shows is every fucking bass drum sound like wet mush I hate it, My kick is punchyyyy but I plan on getting those shitty danmar click pads to help my kick stand out more.
Where can I get a cheap but good snare drum? I want only a snare drum so I can practice snare drum solos. I own an electric drum set but it's not the same thing. I also have a practice pad but I want a real one.
Buy some pearl snares, cheap and reliable.
Thread revival with a danceable drum-cover(not really).
YYou have a look on your face like herpa derp the whole time
YYou have a look on your face like herpa derp the whole time
That's my odd-time face. Also, why are you looking at my face? Look at the drumming :v:
because i look at people's faces along with what their wearing and in conjunction make a judgment about them which is usually wrong. but i still do it anyway
oh god im gonna spend my first 40 hour work week paycheck and im debating what to get. i either want to get a ride cymbal, and some stands, or get the high tom addon, which i really really want.
get a ride
Ride
Get a crash ride.
get a crash and a ride never compromise
Actually, I sometimes use my 18 inch A costum crash as a ride. It works, amazingly enough. Especially good for cramped gigs, where 22 inch rides are too big.
i use my 2002 medium 20" as ride and crash all the time, but i've never come by a crashable ride that has a nice bell. except maybe that grebb sand ride, it's exquisite.
Ya, I have a paiste crash/ride from when I got my first kit. It's horrible. I even tried to drill holes to insert rivets into it, but it broke my drill. Probably need to use something stronger.
you could also make a bell out of it, with a bit of luck they sound surprisingly good, i made one once out of an old cymbal and it's surprisingly musical, but i barely ever do because it was a really thick cymbal so the bell cuts trough any music like a knife trough butter.
get a crash and a ride never compromise
but i already have a crash THAT I USE AS A RIDE! dun dun dun [editline]26th June 2011[/editline] i really want the high toms to give a wider variety of sound ya know? 12 and 13 inch toms don't sound different at all really. but a ride..... i think... i dont knowww
you should try to tune the 12 higher and the 13 lower for separation, they should be able to sound massively different. i've always thought 3 racks is so uncomfortable, i always have my offset toms so my ride can go over my bassdrum so it's comfortable to play. as opposed to putting it over the floortom way back. what crash are you using as a ride?
16 inch xs20 med crash. i mostly ride the bell on it. and i have my china over my floortom, or well had, and i rode (Crash rode?) iit alot and it felt right to me to be honest. to each his own i suppose Though when i want to play zeppelin, i set up my kit as a 4 piece and put my so called "ride" over my bass drum. to be honest i like both ways
16" cymbal as a ride? man you should really get a real ride. you'll love the full characters of it believe me, a small crash will have such a thin bow sound, it doesn't cut man. if i had a china i'd put it in the exact same spot to be honest but playing patterns on the bow and the bell is so much better when it's over the bassdrum. chinas generally have simple riding patterns and there is really only one way to hit them.
ill go for the ride i suppose. I guess i can spend the extra money on a wuhan splash and cymbal arm oh wait i don't have enough money for that fuck [editline]26th June 2011[/editline] anyone who gets an injury playing, i highly recommend icing till numb, letting it heat up, repeat. It's really, really helping my right leg heal so much faster.
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/drums-percussion/pulse-expansion-pack-bass-and-floor-tom uhgghhgghgh a third challenger appears and if i can find out whether my double pedal can be made into two pedals, im buying it (after the ride) plus its sold in the color of my drumset
oh god those are horrible
judging from reviews and what not their not
oh god those are horrible
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/drums-percussion/pulse-expansion-pack-bass-and-floor-tom uhgghhgghgh a third challenger appears and if i can find out whether my double pedal can be made into two pedals, im buying it (after the ride) plus its sold in the color of my drumset judging from reviews and what not their not
I've played on one of those kits. They are horrible. Never look at the reviews, for some reason no matter what the item is (Unless its a metronome) they all say the item is great. You can sell people AIDs in a can and those people would give it great reviews.
a bassdrum really isnt that critical is it though?? im going to be sticking a pillow in it regardless
a bassdrum is one of the biggest factors wtf man how about tuning it instead
Bought this yesterday I was playing a Zildjian 18' ZBT but it was soooo loud and in small venues sound men just hated me haha
a bassdrum is one of the biggest factors wtf man how about tuning it instead
tune a bassdrum? no. i want a dead thud. that is a standpoint in which i will not move from unless i move to a genre that requires a tuned bass drum. rock does not.
you must be kidding me now, rock does not require a tuned bassdrum. :wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf: i can honestly not believe what you just said [editline]26th June 2011[/editline] a little dampening is fine i guess, but you HAVE to tune it, it sounds so much better, a dead thud can not be heard.
