Typical drum-line guys. Always thinking you are the "shiznit", even if you play the same rehashed paradiddles and stick-throws, thinking that the kit guys who actually contribute to music are lower than yourself. Funny that almost every drum-line people I've spoken to, are like this.

Alright, Alright, don't get to drastic here. All I'm saying is that kit players need to realize the work put into drumline and pit. And Vice Versa.
[editline]30th July 2011[/editline]
And why do you say they don't contribute to music? Every year the DCI championships are sold out. Obviously there's a reason for that.

If you like marching-music and entertainment, sure. I can't say I've seen much else where drum-lines is a vital part of a song or tune.
Anyways, there is of course a lot of work to get everything synchronized in drum-lines, but drummers shouldn't scoff at each other, just because the play in a different settings. Our job is to scoff at guitarists and vocalists.
Thinking of getting a Tama Superstar Hyperdrive 6 piece (2 floor). Any Thoughts? :downs:

kit drummers do just as much if not more, the fact that on a regular kit you are actually able to do every single thing you can do on a single snare drum that you carry in front of you, and so much much more, already means you have absolutely no right to say that kit drummers are not actual drummers. Kit drummers contribute so much more to music.
also the fact that all marching band drummers appear to be massive assholes telling other drummers that they are not real drummer because "they don't put as much work into the drills" or whatever, which is basically what you are doing. i can't think of anything i could care less about than walking exactly the same way with 10 snare drummers at a time in music.

you are making the unforgivable mistake of assuming that if somebody is popular it is good.

I'm in pit. Imagine playing a drumset except needing to run to every instrument of a drumset.
I'm sorry if I came off as an asshole. That's not what I was trying to do.
what died in me?
your the one coming in here telling me, as a kit drummer, that i should work on marching band style drumlines and use them in songs....
ateast thats how i interpreted what you said

i tried imagining it, but i couldn't get over the fact of how hilariously inconvenient that is as opposed to an actual drumset.
it's ok, just putting you in your place, no type of drummer is above another one. (unless they're really really bad)

Alright, but then I said you needed to realize the work put into drumline, and you said "ha ha no." as in saying that you worked harder then drumline.
Let's just say that all drummers work the equal amount, if they're playing marimba, snare, marching snare, toms, or kit.
misread your post then. thought you said that people like me should put more work into it
Here's 1 hour of footage from my jazzbands gig last weekend. 1 hour of HD footage ahoy. Hope ya dig, even if there's some timing problems and such.

There aren't that many drum set pictures in this thread, because most of them are in the old thread, so let's start posting them. Go!

Thanks! It's a mix of singles and 6-stroke rolls mixed with singles and doubles with the kick pedal.
I think im ion love with the hhx dry ride with raw bell. But will it match up well with my other cymbals though? Do rides need to match as well?
I hate tuning my drums so much. No matter how long I try to get a good sound, I don't seem to get it. I've looked all the tutorials and my drum teacher has taught me and it all looks so simple. When I brought my snare to my drum teacher, it took like 5 minutes for him to tune it and it sounded awesome. When I tune it, after 2 hours it still sounds like shit! :suicide:

I love benny greb.
i'm at the DCI finals. what corps did bltsponge say he was in. Blue Knights?
Finally got my omni 22' ride and 16 hhx studio crash. Stoked! Gonna use them on fridays concert.
okay so hopefully by septmber my legs will finally be back in action!
recommendations on training for double bass and doubles on the right foot? does training foot speed and endurance require as much as arms?

Practice slowly, relax and don't strain yourself. I feel feet are more difficult to practice, but you can use the same practice-stuff for your feet as your arms/hands. Like playing paradiddles and such.
I'm good with the bass drum but I'm really clumsy with sticks :(

Blue stars.
I've been home for a week now... it feels weird not drumming all day every day.
My fingers/hands hurt after playing the bongo drums. Anyone know how to avoid that?
I know you guys haven't seen me in a while, but I'm currently practicing this
http://img806.imageshack.us/img806/6421/mcm2011.pdf
Just got it clean (dynamics are not in yet, not polished) at 200.
I think that says I've improved somewhat.
Anyone else follow David Letterman-show's drum solo week? Tony Royster killed it! Dennis Chambers, Stewart Copeland and Gavin Harrison are next.

wow i'm really interested in what Chambers, Copeland and Harrison come up with, i'm not too fond of Roysters performance to be brutally honest. I mean he's really fast and stuff but he can't hold no groove.
