DC is so out of the way for most northeasterners. Im not going to this but its like a 7 hour drive from me on a good day.
We are probably looking at Southern PA, What I will do is host a mini meetup of the locals of that area only so we can drive around and figure out meetup and drive spots and a place to eat that can possibily hold 20-30 of us.
After we decide on the location, Then I'll have a thread in GD referencing to this one so we can attract a few more heads.
West coast
We do not consider ourselves as "southern".
DC and Northern Virginia are considered northeastern, whereas most of Maryland is the south. It's weird.
Also I do that drive pretty regularly, it's not that bad.

DC itself is congested, but all of the surrounding areas are awesome
NYC to DC isn't that bad a drive, but from the upstate it's out of the question. Although I didn't vote for it, I hope it ends up being in PA; Not only is it in the middle but I was planning on cruising around PA about that time anyway (mainly Centralia or Bethlehem, perhaps Philly...fuck Hershey) but that'd be outside the meetup.
I love living in upstate NY but PA is such a damn cool state.
dude get me FPAA diplomat flags
i'll fly them on the SS Germany
[editline]30th December 2013[/editline]
but i'd totes do magnets
I don't do magnets, and I'm getting flagmasts soon, I would prefer to fly flags....
psst
dc is still winning
Central PA here. That would be very convenient.
Can we please do PA? It's so much prettier than DC!
Didn't think the meetup was going to get big, but regardless I'd been pondering the idea of radio communication, such as workplace radios with a long range. Push-to-talk for spotting cops, route directions, general warnings or chatter.

I doubt you'll have anywhere near the amount of people voting actually going to the event. Most people will probably go to the place they voted for or maybe the next closest. Like me, I'm only going if you keep it in D.C.
Lower PA or DC is good for me. If its at a good time I'll definitely hit it up.
Is this still planned?
*twiddles thumbs*

Wherever it is spring yet in the northeast, buy me a one-way ticket
Yes. I've been busy so give me another day to post results and plans

Just don't make it April 13th.....
Going to delay the annoucement for another week while i work out finer details. We will be meeting in Washington DC Though. So those who needed those details now know.
Darn, I was really hoping you would say PA anyway :(
don't be afraid to make it later in the spring. i dunno how many college kids we got here but i'm 4 hours farther from DC than normal but I'd be able to make a Saturday day trip with school permitting.
We are looking at spring break period to touch base with our college and workers. The college AA guys can plan a day of their spring break with us, The workers can request the day off.
I'll be goproing up and bringing FP Flags, So anyone else with gopros can also team up with me and we can work something up. More details as i said later this week. I will be forming a small team of 100% Go'ers to plan out our trip and whats going to happen.
I will let everyone know I do plan on bringing 2 or 3 gopros to mount on my car and an HD Camera for footage / pics of all of us.
I'll bring local knowledge
And a GoPro or two
I have a gopro, but no suction mounts.
If this acculy turns into a "thing" I might fly up their annd.... say hi.
DBK or Cubeman would y'all have anything against picking people up from the airport for said event?
I would drive up their but it looks like airline tickets are ~260$ round trip and gas would be around 400$ THEN the chance of my wittle wagon breaking down.
[editline]4th February 2014[/editline]
or my beetle might be running by then..... I dunno.
Would I even trust a vehicle to go ~2600 miles round trip...
2,300 mile round trip for me, and it's all interstate. Would be fun. I bet I could beat the 17 hour time that google maps says it will take. I wonder if I could find 93 octane all the way....

there's 2 major airports fairly close to DC (one is actually in the city limits I guess), I don't see why it'd be a problem.

I volunteer as tribute.
No but seriously, I volunteer as the Taxi service.
I work near Dulles and live near National so we're covered.

Ronald Regan National Airport is in Arlington
If I get the/ a 240/some other car before the meetup, I might come. In the state my car is in now, I don't know if it'll pass inspection, and even if it does, I don't feel good about driving it on the highway.

Ok. But Reagan is incredibly close to DC proper so that'd probably be the better choice. Dulles is the better choice to find nice driving roads because it's farther and there's a few nice choices to go into DC in terms of non-highways.
I know you said the meetup would probably be a weekday, but Saturday has a nice cars and coffee not far from D.C. with plenty of really nice cars especially once the weather warms up.
