You're right, jokes aren't exactly Germanium to the discussion.
That one makes literally no sense. Please stop.
What? That makes sense.

It's stretching it slightly but it makes sense.
What's so special about Thorium?
all i wanted to do was form a bond with all the chemistry fans out there.
What's so special about Thorium?
Nothing, it's gained popularity among the common highschool kiddo because some people claim it's some sort of miracle nuclear fuel. In reality, it's just an alternative.
Chemistry... The only time you're allowed to fuck with fire.
OP, you realise thorium nuclear reactions isn't chemistry, don't you? That's nuclear physics

A superior and cheaper alternative, not limited to "highschool kiddos"

I don't think I understand what he is getting at.

it's both chemistry and physics. well, the reaction itself is physics, but the reactors and applications of thorium requires both nuclear physics and nuclear chemistry.
at least that's my understanding.

Eh, I just think it's more physics then chem and would be more suited to the Physics discussion
The separation of waste products and the salt solution is chem

Germanium -> germane - relevant. It was shitty, I know haha
chemistry is fun, but its hard toolearn imo
Last semester I wrote a research paper on thorium petitions. It's strange how thorium reactors didn't take off just because nuclear material could also be used as weapons.

My teacher uses these puns so much it gets irritating.
For the love of God, Energetics and Kinetics is the worst in IB Chemistry, especially Born-Haber Cycle...

Put me out of my misery, I dont get this one
Woops, I'm late, i guess you could say my uh rate of reaction is low. Or something. Chemistry!
I plan on going to U of T to get my PhD in Analytical Chemistry, too bad I suck at math
Chemistry is by far my favorite class in highschool. Just working with the absolute basic blocks of the universe has a charm of its own.
Did a lab recently when we did blacksmithing with bobbing pins :v:

Come join us in the Canadian chat thread ya? We got 4(?) UofT's there.
Has anyone had any experience with boronic acid substituents on aniline rings deactivating the nucleophilicity of the nitrogen?
I'm currently studying for my chemistry degree! I would also like to say some people just shouldn't be allowed near toxic chemicals, for instance, despite being told the dangers of mercury (the mad as a hatter story) someone still found it rather funny when they poured Mercuric Chloride over their hands, that shits says VERY TOXIC all over the bottle for christs sake!
anyone else love quantum?

You should tell them the story of the woman (post-doctorate) who spilled a drop of some organomercury (dimethylmercury?) on her hands and some of it went through her latex gloves and her skin. She died within a year later because of it.
Here it is:

Of course, organomercury is more toxic than mercury chloride. They wouldn't let you near it if you died from touching it.
I'll be doing chemical engineering at university next year, so I will be paying a great deal of attention to this thread.
Just came home from having mock exams in Chemistry today. 3 papers containing everything we've learned so far in 2 years.
I love Chemistry, but why is it so hard? ;_;

I had one yesterday. Thankfully only one paper on one year, but still a pain.

But hey, if I do well in this one, then I don't have much to worry about at uni. The first semester in Scotland is more or less the advanced higher course with a wee bit extra tied on.

I hear chem engineering is one of the harder engineering majors around. Our second years here have 4 hour labs every 2 weeks.
anyone else love quantum?
quantum mechanics is simultaneously interesting and gross
