I want to see this but I don't wanna see the [sp]amputation[/sp] scene, although I sort of do want to, but I'm afraid it'll be too disgusting and I'll throw up or something.
Its really not that bad [sp]the most you see is his arm covered in blood and him cutting what looks like a cable (meant to be his tendon or something)[/sp]
Looks good.
Good movie.
I was expecting a whole lot more from the arm scene after hearing people walked out of the theater and threw up. It was honestly nothing too shocking.
The amputation scene isn't gory at all, but that damn sound man, THAT SOUND, will stick for a few minutes
I wasn't too impressed with the film. It was okay, but it's really not 9/10 material.
Also, I cringed so bad when he was cutting the nerves in his arm. God damn that sound...
What did it sound like? I'm interested.

Like satan taking a shit.

Everyone is overdoing it. It sounding realistic but not shocking.

How can it sound realistic? It wouldn't make a sound at all. It's just ear piercing.

If i had to make a sound that had to simulate extreme pain, that would be it.

though i don't know what kind of freak i would have to be for it to be humanly possible to make a noise like that
Seen it yesterday and it's one of the best movies I've seen.

It sounded like breaking a guitar string with overdrive on.
Amputation scene wasn't that bad. But when he hit the nerve with the soundeffect and all it really made me cringe. Great movie.
Sorry for the bump but I really think a movie this great needs to keep the thread alive.
It was amazing! The ending was incredible and James Franco should definitely win the oscar for best performance.
I watched it today. James Franco acting was the best part of the movie. No surprise there though. He was almost the only actor in it, but still great performance. I kind of wish I didn't know anything about the movie because I actually overhyped it for myself and thought it would be some movie of the year material. The ending was indeed perfect and overall I enjoyed it. Definitely a watchable movie and proves that James Franco is a hell of an actor.
Comes out the 12th here in Australia I believe. I'm really looking forward to it, I still remember this being on the NEWS.
Oh god that was amazing.
The nerve sound effect makes me cringe so bad.

I saw it yesterday, im in vic
I watched this last night
[sp]I actually found the movie pretty good. The fact it was based on a true story really made you feel for him. To be put in such a rare situation like that must have been horrible. When he broke the bone in his arm and started cutting through it with his knife was really grusome. I was almost looking away, especially when he was trying to cut through the nerves. That must have been the most painful part of it all.[/sp]
Yeh it was a good film. I won't be watching soon though because it was quite scary even by my standards.
Edit:

Thats what i had a problem with lol
Felt like bumping this thread because this movie is such a beautiful piece of work.
[sp]I cried of happiness and sadness and frustration. Everything was spot on and amazing to me. I didn't think too much of the movie at first but James Franco outdid himself later on and the direction the movie took later on really made you sit on nails basically, wanting more and more. I didn't think "was that it" in the end, I just thought "Finally, mercy." The amputation scene wasn't bad at all either, but it sure left an impression on how fucking gruesome it actually is.[/sp]
When is this out on DVD?
It's already out I think
I saw this last night and it was great.
I want to watch this movie just for the nerve cutting sound effect.
Nerve sound most effective sound effect in cinema yet? I believe so.
Fuck the self-amputation scene is so gritty.
There was actually some epileptic guy in my theater who got a seizure while watching the amputation scene. Paramedics literally carried him out when the scene was over..
Just got done watching it. I thought was going to be very slow paced and boring. I was wrong.. all I have to say is that was intense. And gross.

Holy shit, how inconvenient.
I couldn't stop comparing this movie with the superior Touching the Void when I watched it. It was good but Touching the Void is just so much better.
I rather give credit to the guy who really lost the hand. Than the guy who made the movie. That's why I'm not angry that this did not win the Academy Award. I rather buy his book, which I will.
