I just joined DeviantArt, uploaded some stuff I've drawn/written.
Gotta say, it's both motivating and demoralizing at the same time.
It's a wonderful feeling when someone adds you to their watch list or favorites something you've done; it means that they picked your shit out of the crowd, checked it out, and liked it enough to tell you so.
But at the same time, whenever I check "Most Popular: 24 Hours", all of my stuff is pages behind sparkledogs and MSPaint Sonic OCs.
It's like if someone gives you a cake for acing a test, but then the mentally handicapped guy next to you wins a Nobel Prize for solving the Hamburgler's maze on the back of his placemat.
