Well, it is pretty shitty to have with all the social issues you get and whatnot. He didn't say that people with autism were awful, just the syndrome itself. Teling yourself autism is something positive is just being delusional.
With all the issues that come with autism I'm glad I truly did overcome it (as in, pushed myself to the limits throughout the years to become more social and sympathize with others rather than avoiding social contact).
Sometimes I meet other people who also have Assburgers like me, and it's almost surreal to see how socially inept they virtually always are in comparison, simply because they never really tried to change themselves. I know this may sound a bit arrogant, perhaps, but it's just an observation.
As for that furry guy, fuck him. What he did is not overcoming autism, it's mingling with likeminded outcasts so that he'll have to do minimum effort to have a group to associate with. Like a bloody cult of social awkwardness. And animal fetishism.

I completely agree, I really used to be socially awkward, but for the past few years I've been pushing to try and just become... normal, if that's a way of saying it.
