both were just 30 min drawings to see if I could even draw faces since recently I've just been watching/reading up on proportions and shit but not trying it out for myself, so I figured I should try and actually do it. also i dunno even how to do 3/4 view that is literally my first try, so tell me what is wrong with it so that I can do better.

Doing a 3/4 view should never be a set number of steps or a specific technique. It's the same as doing a head from any angle - it needs a knowledge of anatomy and proportion and the skill to figure out how that anatomy and set of proportion looks in 3D.
Check out Loomis' books on artists and anatomy - he's really good. There are a cache of free PDFs of his books floating around too
Well yeah I know that it takes knowledge of anatomy and proportion which is what I have been trying to study, I am just wondering if anything sticks out as obviously wrong, like I can see that the mouth doesnt curve around the face enough and also i just noticed that i forgot to shade an eyebrow for some reason. Haha you can tell i didnt spend a lot of time on it.
another sketch thing since I am in the drawin mood:

trying to do quick stuff to become less attached to drawings/ less afraid of messing up.

Started to use Inkscape because I don't have money to buy Illustrator, it's actually a really good program:

Based on Oda Nobunaga's kabuto from the Sengoku period.
Have any of you guys used Corel Painter? I recently got the 2015 version having never used any Corel product before. I was told its "like photoshop but made for digital painting, with a traditional feel" and i quite like it but it feels very odd imo at times compared to photoshop which I'm used too; both ui and how the brushes work haha
it's okay, mildly clunky interface last time i had used it. good for canvas 'simulation' and the likes
Don't mean to spam, but I added a bunch to my kabuto:

Hey guys, I was wondering where you guys generally find your references, specifically for people. I use http://artists.pixelovely.com/practice-tools/figure-drawing/ a lot, but it'd be nice to have more variety.

http://www.quickposes.com/ is good. You can do different categories using the "challenge" mode, you can browse through the gallery of images, you can do random images and you can do timed random images. Also at the end of a session it will display all of the images that were shown so you can go back and look at them if you want to continue a drawing or something.
You can also go to deviant art and go to the photography/people/ category or the resources/stockart/model/ section
I'm considering checking out those 3D models as well. Not for study purposes, but given that I'm doing pieces that need to be done somewhat quickly it'd be good to use a model (live or otherwise) for the final pieces and study up on proper anatomy in between

I started working digitally with Painter and always preferred it to PS, but have since switched entirely to PS because Painter had a couple of very serious bugs left in it that were easily triggered and I just didn't want to keep losing work (this was Painter 12). I found generally working in it was much less unpleasent than PS tends to be. The colour and brush interfaces are much nicer, though you can get plugins for PS to emulate it. the program does take a lot of getting used to but once you figure out the idiosyncrasies it's good. If your process involves a lot of filtering and adjustments and resizing and other image manipulation techniques, you're better off in PS cuz Painter doesn't really support that kind of thing to the same extent. so be prepared to emulate traditional process more in there. The community is kind of a bummer or was when I was using it bc most high level artists are using PS so resources like brushes and addons are made for that, I remember looking around for extra Painter brushes and there was nothing. On the plus side you get tonnes to choose from on installing and as I said the interface isn't horrible like PS. Painter is more ram-heavy, if you have a lousy pc like me you gotta run it almost solo lol
Another quickie.

Just got back to drawing, decided to start with a fantasy female dwarf, because I wanted to draw something short and bulky.

Thoughts so far ?
well her booty has obviously melted the surrounding snow at least
I think the idea is that she sat where there was no snow to avoid getting her pants wet but, hey, whatever floats your boat
After finding out about Krita, I decided to try my hand at this digital art thingy.

Decided to paint everyone's favorite mad driver, Max Damage.
Drawing has plenty of errors/weird things, but I had fun doing it, and I tried to use preety much every brush type there was in order to see how each one performed.
Though I have to say, drawing with a crappy mouse is preety hard.
Drew a tiny engine

Just wanted to force myself to draw something. Just big brush... can't be arsed doing any more work on it. So tedious.

that feel when someone's "quickie" or "random doodle" looks about 5000 times better than anything you can make

As much fun as Im having with Painter a ton of the brushes end up looking pixelated like this http://puu.sh/fkoG7/99b41b5ecd.png no matter what res/how zoomed in I am and Im not sure if its meant to be this way haha

Are you using vectorized lines?
Vectors will take care of that. You can zoom in to 1000% and they'll still be smooth and crisp

I just finished these two characters for some kind of short animation, still no thoughts about what that's going to be yet though...

nobody draws in vector lol it looks bad unless you want a very specific style
Been ages since the last time I acutally posted some drawings

^ I was too afraid to push the values for her face and for some reason I just can't draw a girl's face properly. Can't do those smooth and clean lines. Practice more?

Only the first one was edited. I had to erase out the fundamental lines. Such is life without an eraser.

kept working on this things, fixed the face up a bit along with some of the jacket and the stuff on the table. It feels like an improvement!
