I am looking to invest in my first drawing tablet. What would you guys recommend? And which software/programs?

Sketchbook is also very good for sketching and has really handy symmetry and perspective tools. Photoshop is the best for [I]painting [/I]by far.

And yeh your totaly right, I'm going to be changing a few things, like improving the city and clouds, so I'll put what you said on my list. Thanks :)

I'll post my up to date version when I'm done for the night for some suggestions and critique. EDIT: Here we go. I'm going to redo the head to make it look more.... natural. Like someone carved it instead of stamping it out of steel. Otherwise, thoughts? What needs improvement? Colors look good. Maybe more contrast on the pants. (and like i said before, obvious need for more detail on shoes and face) The actual detail also seems pretty rough, but in it's current state seems more like a sketch than a final work. Refinement is needed

I'd say, continue that blue hue you have on the hand around the figure (because its worked really nicely) and also tidy up the edges.

not even reference on the flowers? Looks good though. Although, seems like a pretty dark/harsh shadow on the left side of the bridge of his nose. compared to the shadow on the inside of his right eye, and his right nostril, the nose bridge shadow should be on the other side [editline]7th November 2015[/editline] the hair looks really nice though (including facial hair.) hard to believe there wasn't a reference. good job. e: actually looks like the nostril shadow (which is actually from his right cheek) and bridge shadow would be from the same source, so the inner eye shadow on his right eye should be on the other side.

Around two years ago I pretty much stopped drawing/painting all together, should I try to revive some of my creativity?

I've evened out the shadows by now. The indentation on his bridge nose is actually something he has. I can draw his face accurately 'cause he's my best mate and I've used him a lot in my photography. Here's the last photo I used him in. It's not particularly artistic 'cause it's a commercial project so sadly there's no emotion, symbolism or heart put into it.
