Still faffing around with this.
What am I looking at?
Been poking around with a copy of Thomas Fluharty's schoolism course.
One of the things was to draw a lion, he gave out the reference material (really low res image of a bronze statue lion).
Struggled quite a bit...fun though!

The face is a bit flat, but overall it's pretty nice.
What am I looking at?
Looks like the foreground is a highway, and the background is a city.
I don't really know if this is the right place to ask, but I'm looking for help with making pixel art/background tiles for something and I don't really know what to do to make things look nice.
What I'm doing is making background tiles in MS Paint (because it's easy to work with on a pixel level, unlike photoshop) for use in Roll20. Right now I have really basic tiles that do the job of conveying information to players (tile floor, impenetrable wall, etc.) but they're pretty utilitarian. I don't really know how to give them flavour - right now floor tiles look clean and white instead of like something you'd expect from an abandoned building. Guides or advice would be appreciated.

Redline? :v:
So I just got a job as a game designer/artist for an online gambling company (booooo, ethics, I know ), so I should be spending a lot of time drawing shortly!

ho ho hhhooooo that is siiick
Only think I can crit is that you maybe should make sure that some of your materials are better defined (like the plastic flags and some of the metal) But really thats your choice, its not hugely necessary.
I meant more I don't know whether it's a render or a painting or what
Aw that's kind a nice change up to what I originally thought you meant. Its rendered in UE4.

I finally decided to do a study. It's kinda of a WIP, at the moment.

I feel like I did a pretty terrible job at doing what I'm supposed to do in these kind of studies. I avoided color picking from the reference image, though, so there's that at least.
I tried something new.

Drew a picture then used paint.net to color it.

I've used Source Filmmaker for around 2 years or so. And i'm wanting to people to hopefully give me some constructive criticism.
I think it be cool to learn some new things. I love new things. Anything you say will be niceness, It what I'll see.

I'm thinking about making a source film if i feel I'm on the right track of creation.

Always pose fingers.
Some customs I wrapped up this year. Didn't paint ALL of them, but I did something for just about all of them.

Drawing is fun. :v:
Hoo boy, last time I posted anything on here was before that dedicated art category was removed. I think my stuff has drastically improved since then, though. Nowhere near perfect though, still trying to improve my understanding of anatomy and color theory (why do muscle groups gotta be so hard for me to visualize T-T)
Moving the figure in the center more to the right could help. Generally you want more room in the composition in the direction that a thing is facing, with, obviously, less room behind it.

I usually just play around with where I put stuff when I'm doing an initial sketch thing. I don't think you need any fancy composition knowledge although it helps, you can kind of feel when stuff is in the right place. If I painted that I'd have the people down in the bottom right, the star thing in the top left, and I've have the whole thing on a wider aspect ratio to make it more cinematic. But I do that so much it's going to become a cliché of mine.
But when you look at it, you can feel that the left person is too close to the edge of the picture and it makes it claustrophobic, the man in the middle feels unbalanced, like I just feel like moving him over to the right to kind of balance it out. The feeling of distance is compromised by the low FOV. Everyone feels that stuff because if they didn't, there wouldn't be consensus on what is good, so do initial sketches and mess with stuff before you paint it in.
Thank you for the advice facepunch friends. I tried integrating what you guys said to this version, however, i still feel something is coming up short. I think my best options here are just redrawing the characters for a better FOV or just giving up on this and doing a better planned out painting entirely
At this point, I think i've fucked it up and its too far gone! I still have the older versions but i just can't figure out where i want to go with this
still, it was fun to do this i learned a lot about composition, i might keep working on it idk

While posing fingers has already been mentioned, you should work with camera angles and scenery to fill up the scene more since there's a fair bit of empty space. Try working with lights to make it look less bland to and some Depth of Field.
