Thank you for the advice facepunch friends. I tried integrating what you guys said to this version, however, i still feel something is coming up short. I think my best options here are just redrawing the characters for a better FOV or just giving up on this and doing a better planned out painting entirely
At this point, I think i've fucked it up and its too far gone! I still have the older versions but i just can't figure out where i want to go with this
still, it was fun to do this i learned a lot about composition, i might keep working on it idk

To me it looks like the mountain is the same value as the people closest to the camera so I'm not seeing a huge amount of depth, and the ground under the people has the same detail as the mountain thats supposed to be far away.
yeah some atmospheric perspective could work. There is also not much depth of value on the people either. No real highlights or deep shadows. Also assuming the lightsource is the large ball in the sky, and assuming it isn't between the people and the mountain, the mountain wouldn't be lit up like that in the center. Of course, the ball could be right above the mountain. If it is, maybe make it overlap the mountain a bit so that it doesn't appear to just be a sun in the sky, and instead looks like some massive ball floating right above the ground.

i re-drew a fairly old picture of mine.
Hoo boy, last time I posted anything on here was before that dedicated art category was removed. I think my stuff has drastically improved since then, though. Nowhere near perfect though, still trying to improve my understanding of anatomy and color theory (why do muscle groups gotta be so hard for me to visualize T-T)

legs are wayyy to long
For future reference, remember that the distance from the groin to the top of the head is the same as the groin to the bottom of the feet
Generally your stylized work will only get better from practicing drawing realistically from observation so just keep that in mind

Holy shit how have I never heard this before.

Working on my animation process, I'm making a short about androids running a bar. needs a bit of shading but I'll do that last.
Holy shit how have I never heard this before.
Well it's only true if you've studied and gone with 8 head proportions as an end-all for human proportions. Average proportions are 7 1/2 heads.
still, the only way you have never heard that before is if you have never studied proportions of the human body at all.
Unloaded the kiln a bit ago, finally have this one ready for use.

I've used Source Filmmaker for around 2 years or so. And i'm wanting to people to hopefully give me some constructive criticism.
I think it be cool to learn some new things. I love new things. Anything you say will be niceness, It what I'll see.
[sp]Did you catch my rhyme, rhyming is dumb but catchy[/sp]
I'm thinking about making a source film if i feel I'm on the right track of creation.
While posing fingers has already been mentioned, you should work with camera angles and scenery to fill up the scene more since there's a fair bit of empty space. Try working with lights to make it look less bland to and some Depth of Field.
With such a central composition, if it's only a still image, it would be worth cropping to portrait too.

Shit, I initially thought it was from the groin to the shoulders.

Well no two people have the exact same proportions but I was always taught that its from the groin to the top of the head. Depends on what you're going for, the physique of the character, etc

i don't think i've ever measured the height of my drawings in heads.
I measure my drawings in failure and eraser shavings

Its funny since some people when they want to do professional Art for a living, they try to do a stylized approach to drawings first instead of going a realistic route. Thats why you see these art graduates that draw like they are from deviantart.
Im not saying stylized is bad, but you should practice realism before taking a stylized approach to art.

Hey, drawing takes shit ton of practice, sometimes failing at it is a good thing, then you can see your mistakes.
Seeing your mistakes in a drawing is a virtue in drawing.

yeah

An important part of drawing is learning to draw confidently. Don't get too precious with your work and if something doesn't look right, just draw it again. Being a perfectionist is bad for practice. Don't linger on failure, just learn from it and move on.
i don't think i've ever measured the height of my drawings in heads.
Its a pretty popular method of getting proportions especially in animation- generally you'll find people are 7.5 heads tall, but cartoons often push this to 4-5 heads tall.
I don't like that method because to me its not a surefire way to get proportion right and it only works if your character is standing straight
Obligatory content

I feel like it would be a shame to paint that in and lose all of your fancy line weight work
how long do these fleshed out drawings usually take you? Your level of detail for each one is pretty awesome.
yeah

Shooting guns in an underwater base with glass all around you seems a bit unwise, to say the least
Really nice linework, looking forward to how you'll light the place
I can't say I'm a fan of the thick lines especially for things that are further away.
Though it's a good base for a painting

Yo, head on over here https://facepunch.com/forumdisplay.php?f=198 with your SFM stuff. Since what was left of the SFM section looks deader than a doornail, it'd be the best place to put it. Looks pretty good so it'd probably get more attention there.
im very conflicted because the rules say the opposite
hhhhHhhhh

Pretty sure those haven't been updated since the SFM section went poof. Could always ask a mod tho.

Buncha people just post SFM stuff there anyway.

Couple hours. Linework is kinda my thing

Managing line weight has consistently been the biggest problem with all my line drawings for the class I'm in... I should probably do something about that
