Should sharpen up the outlines on the face of it and make the lighting on the head a bit brighter and more intense and it would look pretty. Also try to complete the entire figure as its a bad habit to not finish things especially if you had the intention of painting it all in the first place.
Mirroring does not look good and is a technical cop out

You should make your signature less intrusive, it should never become a compositional element. It even sticks out in the thumbnails
has anyone painted/drawn in photoshop elements? im thinking of using it since im poor and cant afford a binding subscription or that $30 a month poop. im using elements 14 right now and it seems to have all the basics I need to get started

I tried drawing an ink jar
Anyways, I was reading Drawing on the Right side of the Brain because I'm trying to be better at drawing but i read from past pages on this thread that it isnt a very good book apparently. honestly i would much rather take a class than read a book but atm i only have time for books/similar resources. idk what to look at, people have suggested reading certain books for anatomy (loomis or w.e) or perspective or lighting but really where should i start? does it really matter what subject i start on?
It does matter, and you should start by learning how to measure by eye for life drawing. What you're doing above is the right direction - but continue with paper and pencil. Before you learn about anatomy or perspective or lighting, you should be able to draw well.
If you can find simpler objects to begin with that would be good. Ellipses from scratch are difficult

wow man splendid work
I would really like some crits on these before I continue. Obviously not finished but I guess you can see where I'm going with this right?

This was just a quick color test, might go with more of a moonlit nighttime setting.

I'd put the crow on something that looks as small as a crow, because right now it looks like a really huge crow, unless of course if thats what you were going for.
Yeah was kinda going for a huge crow :v:
to be honest there's no indication of scale either way
get some atmospheric perspective in there if that is supposed to be a huge crow
Anyone have any nice resources for painting the features of the human body more specifically the abdominal chest region?

thumbnailing is always the best way to nail composition. do the same crow from a few other angles, if you want to stress how big this crow is, maybe have the camera looking up at this monstrous underlit crow. at the moment it just looks like a comically large crow chilling on a rock, which isn't necessarily bad, but might not be conveying the feeling you want to portray.
Thanks guys! I did do some thumbnailing but I did it mainly for the environment not for the crow.. I felt something was off though. Great crits! I guess the piece would look better if I removed the crow and did like a castle on that rock instead.
i think it just needs some happy little trees in there to convey a better sense of scale. rocks are notoriously bad for scale

I've been practicing drawing my left hand in numerous poses. I think I'm getting there. Proportions are a bit off in some places though.
