Fair enough actually. Speaking of which I did take your advice and have been trying to draw larger, here's a quick wip reproduction of something I found on Artstation so that I'm actually contributing to the thread.
I really don't get the "right and wrong" line of thought. Why do people like to play devil's advocate so much here lol? As far as I'm concerned people can do whatever they want, that's tacit. it's not "stop doing that you naughty boy" it's just what I actually said - mirroring looks bad. And it does lol. Let's leave it at that, no need to argue for somebody's right to do it
Dude i just want to draw stuff, not trying to be Leonardo Da vinci...

Fuck this raven:
Did a quick repaint of the background following the crits, going to change the stance of the bird a bit i think, might open the wings or something like that. Better? Just a weenie suggestion but as a personal one, I think the legs could look a bit beefier. I know that ravens have skinny white man legs but it would add to the scale of "it's a giant raven"
It's still a rough and I was thinking of changing the eye and open the mouth! So I'll show you guys later! Legs and feet are not done yet so don't worry :v:
I painted on another LIGHTER. This ones for a friend who wanted a skeleton with a tophat, please.
Well, since some of you asked for my brushes, i finally uploaded them here. Don't expect a gigantic pack, it's only 8 simple brush presets.
Fuck this raven: Hello new raven: (hope you guys like this one more, I certainly do.. still wip ofcourse)
Somebody else mentioned it but it'd be cool if you could do another image where he has spread wings and super intimidating. If you want to leave it I'd understand though lmao.

[t]http://i.imgur.com/gOPIriK.jpg[/t] Any thoughts on this logo? It's going to be about a small alien in a regular sized world. I'm curious if it's fine as it is or if there's any tweaks you can think of. I've tried playing with the size of the "Alien" text too - there will probably a few variations based around that as well.

Good move making it way smaller than the first one, much more effective. If you want to put it on something you need that whole big rectangle of empty space to house your meandering type. There's no way it will work at a small size either. In fact long before it becomes illegibly small you'll lose the tiny saucer in the A. Try to block your type together, and make the saucer idea large and noticeable and important. Think about how to get that saucer to be your primary element, something that can even stand alone, and work the text around it.

chunkier shoulder pins/shoulder armour. how does that hat stay on :V
chunkier shoulder pins/shoulder armour. how does that hat stay on :V
Glue or tape I would imagine.
I made a monkey logo/icon thing and animated it. I thought it needed to be a little more seductive.
Quick-ish sketch
Keep in mind that something like the sun is a very large and wide light source which covers a very large area, so the branches sitting in the middle of the light should cast shadows on the ground and we should see some extent of the lack of light underneath the branches in the air too. Also in general the shadows on the ground should be a bit more broken up as a large portion of those shadows come from leaves with gaps in them. It is sort of like connecting the dots, look at all those bright areas of light coming through and none of that showing on the ground. If you're worried about detracting from the flow or focus of a piece also, remember you can make light points to the left and right of the composition slightly dimmer, creating a gradient to the center. You can achieve realistic shadows and depth this way while still having a good composition that moves your eyes to the center.
was giving up on this painting when suddenly ; "I will have my vengeance in this life or the next"

It's supposed to look very rugged, like it can easily take (and give) several beatings.
In cases like these you can most easily play with ideas using silhouettes What you have more or less is on the left. I think it's pretty good, it looks like you're designing a security bot with a comedic touch. If so it's going well. What I did on the right is just to suggest how you could mess with the silhouette you have. Play with it yourself for ten minutes, knock out a row of different versions and you'll probably hit on something you like more than your original.
