The new animation features in Clip Studio are pretty nice
Clip Studio Pro is awesome!!!!! (though I have to do final touch-ups in Photoshop still...) Clip Studio Pro is great for what it is able to do, but Photoshop still is more powerful for editing it seems. I think I will start painting in CSP and tweak in PS from now on. Auto merge failled... I just triple post... sorry...
it's great that you're simplifying the hair more than you used to, previously your hair was just silly. You could still simplify it five times more but it's much better

How do you guys get past the "this isn't immediately turning out the way I can see it in my head, lets scrap it" thing. I've been stuck like this for a year and it's killing me.

I've been stuck like this for a year and it's killing me.
The long story short is, you don't. A phrase I've heard from time to time is 'kill your darlings'- it means that even though you might want a project/drawing/whatever to succeed, if it's proving to be a dead end it's best to stop butting your head against a wall over it and move on, since your time is better spent trying new things. I still need to work on taking it to heart but it's a good reminder that not everything needs to be finished and perfect. My advice is, save your progress and start on something new. Sometimes it's just a matter of walking away from it for a short while so you can come back later with a refreshed view, you might know what you were missing
ignore your feeling and continue. if it still doesn't turn out the way you see it in your head, continue. and keep going and it might never reach what you imagined so keep going and then when you put all the features you wanted to include there, you can stop. what did you learn? and then come back to it in a few months after practising some more.

I've been stuck like this for a year and it's killing me.
Finish it anyways and focus on doing more, quick things. I do Inktober (draw an inked picture every day in October) annually and it's a huge artistic boost for me. Three factors - limited time to draw, ink not allowing room to constantly undo and erase, rapidly having to start new pictures - mean that I have to force myself past "well I don't think this is very good, I'm going to stop". Not all of them are great - man of them are outright bad - but it really works to loosen up the joints and sure enough by the month's end I've tried styles and techniques that I rarely or never do because I've taught my brain that these are just for practice and shouldn't be perfect. It's like that classic saying about how every artist has a thousand bad drawings in them that they need to get out.

After working on something a bit, when I start to feel frustrated with it or like I want to scrap it, I stop and come back to it later. Whether its taking a break for a few hours or a whole day, give yourself time. I always feel better about something if I come back to it tomorrow.

I know I already goofed in the 3D thread, but I feel you really should just be posting these in the screenshot section. https://facepunch.com/forumdisplay.php?f=198
right ok you know i would but [t]http://puu.sh/o6tY9/a3ccecea17.png[/t] im not going to break the rules and get banned because people tell me to (not that i want to sound rude) [editline]e[/editline] asaratha was mod of the gmod section at the time of me asking that
Personally I'd say that sucks, and is a dumb rule, but that they don't belong in any of the other threads you've been trying either, and you really just stick to DeviantArt and the like. Of course, that probably isn't a good solution for you since you obviously want to post them somewhere on FP (since you're posting them). And, it's not really a hard rule on what exactly belongs in this thread-- I don't like it but I'm sure no one else really minds so it's probably fine to keep posting them here. I'm sure Dai and etc will weigh in if it's a big deal.
at this rate i might as well just stop posting pics on fp in general anyways tbh
this looks like the stuff people wear post-ironically so they can meme in the real world
thats exactly what it is

People do it all the time. I did it as well. You can post the "Want to post a pic but not make a thread" thread. You're not going to get banned, not sure where you get this idea.
last time i checked breaking the rules gets you banned as i was told rules are rules so id assume posting anything non-gmod in the gmod pictures section gets you a nice ban
last time i checked breaking the rules gets you banned as i was told rules are rules so id assume posting anything non-gmod in the gmod pictures section gets you a nice ban
You obviously like posing stuff, maybe you should take some time to have a look at animation? You wouldn't have to create the models, you could use pre made ones and hand key some sweet anims, I'm pretty sure those would be welcome on here and the digital 3D threads?
Hi I'm also the arts mod from the past 6 years. Asaratha isn't wrong, but also isn't right. I'd say it's borderline fine to show off your sfm stuff in this thread so long as you put a lot of work into it. It takes creativity! But also this is a thread meant mostly for more common art practices, IE drawing, painting, sculpting, building things, etc. Why doesn't SFM stuff fit in with gmod screenshot junk? character model posing stuff has always been screenshots section material and you shouldn't get banned for posting in the below thread (equivalent to this one), OR for making your own thread if you've got things you really want to share. If you're still not sure, talk to the chat thread and get acquainted with other people who do the same thing. If there's some aura of elitism over gmod vs sfm there's probably no harm in trying to start an SFM thread in general, if only to get more attention to the fact it's shunned from the screenshots section https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1509277 [t]http://i.imgur.com/MavS0wb.png[/t]
have some fancy art stuffs i did over the past week [t]http://meanwhile.rocks/sharex/SS_1459815509.png[/t][t]http://meanwhile.rocks/sharex/SS_1459815744.png[/t][t]http://meanwhile.rocks/sharex/SS_1459815763.png[/t][t]http://meanwhile.rocks/sharex/SS_1459815782.png[/t][t]http://meanwhile.rocks/sharex/SS_1459815955.png[/t][t]http://meanwhile.rocks/sharex/SS_1459865042.png[/t]
Made a quick doodle during a boring lecture and decided to give it some life on ps
Decided to color an old lineart:
Maybe it's just me but the hand and arm seem a little too small in comparison to the rest of the body.
it's skewed perspective, needs some work
Yeah, I noticed too as I started to shade her arm... ^That looks better I think
I was wondering: how many of you guys been actually paid to do digital art before (or (want to) do it for a living)? What are your stories? edit: stories as in how/why you started out, where you are now and where you want to ideally be
