i dont paint anymore really, hence lots of 3D to help and save time and for accuracy, but does this idea read at all?
the art will be accompanied with text and an explanation on a website so it doesn't matter if the exact idea doesn't read 100% but as long as it's not completely confusing?
thanks guys

obviously vry wip. hand will be more than a silhouette for example and all the 3d will be painted over etc. ca is overblown

This looks so damn awesome.
I'm guessing the player controls things in the environment to either directly or indirectly cause damage/kill people.
thank fuck for that thank you

I can't seem to draw. I mean, once in a blue moon I'll follow through on something but I find my self scrapping something out of frustration in the first couple of strokes. I can visualise everything I want but when it comes to putting it down on "paper" its a mess. I know most stuff looks bad until its finished, I mean I deal with that issue all the time in miniature painting. But I seem to be physically incapable of even doing this (blocking in values)

I want to 3D model but if I can't even draw my own references then I'm kind of fucked. What can I do to help me get past the "it's going to be shit just stop" mindset?

I have been painting for a while though, just never did studies before :suicide:

The drawings you do at this stage are not about the end result. It will be shit, that's just how it is.
Drawing from your head is super difficult because although we think we have clear pictures in our head, there is a lot of missing information in our brains eye which will be clearly visible when you try and then translate that to a real picture. I have found drawing unbearably frustrating at times, grinding for hours against a single painting or drawing just trying to make it look right. Often I find myself half way through a painting and I look at it and think "I have no fucking idea what I'm looking at", but I knew what I was doing when I put the paint strokes down and I just continue along my process and it turns out alright, which is a weird feeling. I guess I don't really have much of a point except to say that I think what you are feeling is normal. For some people they love drawing even when what they are producing looks bad, but I find it frustrating to the extent of it being physically uncomfortable to not be able to get it looking "correct".
I'm by no means amazing yet, but I've been doing it for a while and I've improved a lot since I started at least. My advice is to think about your drawing skill as the end goal, not the drawing you are working on right now. Your current drawing is part of the process, not the product. The product is your skill.
I think I'll make a video game inspired by Swords & Sandals, Little Fighter and generic RPG games.

If you're doing it in flash (it looks like flash) then Josiah Brooks has some really great tips for setting up characters for flash games.

It's for a Unity game, but the graphics will be made in Flash. Thanks for the link.
ah right! In that case I'm not entirely sure if it would translate as well, you'd end up having a lot of sprite sheets if you did something like the skeleton guy.
I'm also using Flash to make art for a Unity game. I can't draw characters to save my life :C
I've been painting from reference for ages now and I decided I was ready to start doing stuff from imagination (ofc will continue to do stuff from ref). Really enjoyed doing this.

I could see any one of those in WoW, really awesome.
6 looks like a bit weirdly balanced though, I can't imagine how you would really hold it without stabbing yourself in the head with the top of the blade.
1,2,6 & 12 I really like. 7 is just a bit too weird, looks kinda flimsy too.

7 reminds me of the Transistor sword.
Given who is going to wield them I would say #9 fits the best, he's more of a giant flat sword kind of guy, the others are a bit too overdone for him IMO, I could see most of these being wielded by Axe or Kunkka, not Wraith. But on the other hand, that's just judging them on their shapes, not on how they would look when you have them decorated with, I presume, bones or other undead things.
#3 is definitely a Centaur Warruner weapon.
I like 1, 2, 9, and 12
I imagine 1 having some glowing orb or something floating in that cut-out bit at the tip of the blade
Does anyone know a way to record your face in real life, and then get the motion data from your expressions to apply it to a drawn face on the computer so it animates using the coordinates from the irl footage?
