Oh, I think I got it! What if I change the timing so it holds on the almost all the way open position and then it opens a bit more right before the snap?

Maybe? Nah, still looks weird.
Depending on how 'cartoony' you are going for, you could add a 'squash' of the mouth clamping together to show the force of the action:

then add a couple recovery frames as a kind of recoil of the movement

Pretty much this. The way I've always thought about animation is with basic physics in mind. Inertia, momentum, weight, along with equal & opposite reactions should all come into mind when something moves. If you watch a golf ball being hit in slow motion you'll notice it compresses and expands out perpendicular to where the golf club hit it. A croc/alligator probably wouldn't do this in real life :v:, but it helps illustrate the force of the jaw closing.

I just did this! Sorry for poor photo but I'm in school right now.

Yeah, that just occured to me this morning. I realized I didn't have any squash on the close even though I have plenty of stretch on the open. :v:

It's looking a little more natural now.
Has anyone ever done an art challenge type thing on this forum? Like a weekly theme?

I've tried to run a few but they always tend to lose steam due to lack of participation/me forgetting to keep it updated.
Now we have an FB page that might be easier to pull off though!

Looks cool but I think you should use the flame to light your character, now the light seems to be comming from everywhere. The character design and everything is pretty neat though! I also really like her face and expression.

yeah when we look at/critique people's stuff we talk about the design too, so best to let everybody know if you're drawing from an existing IP

Yeah, whoops. I guess I shoudve stated it was Dota fanart, I haven't gotten into creating my own character designs quite yet.
What guidelines do you all use when using images to create a design?
Say I have used a portion of a free wallpaper in a design, and the original creator is unknown or anonymous, would it be okay to sell that design? It's a portion of a piece of album artwork
and free fonts available on the internet?

Generally fonts (if you get 'em from a halfway reputable source) should come with a readme, explaining who made it and if you need to contact them if you use it commercially.

Some people might disagree with me on this, but if the wallpaper is a small or unrecognizable portion of the artwork, then it's probably okay. Most fonts also have a readme detailing commercial use.
If it's a big part of it, you should probably try looking for the original creator a little more, and if you still can't find them, you're probably all set.
more shit

Well maybe if he used his unlimited power to make something other than fast food :P
