This is very reminiscient of the dude who did the concept art for Cortex Command! Any connection at all?
Love the style.

Uh, without context it would be very hard to judge. I can barely tell what it's supposed to be when it's just detached from any sort of environment.

Come on, a tall brown thing with small green things hanging from it? Concept art of props is usually drawn without a background.
Alright, you got me. To be more precise I find the lighter shading to be somewhat confusing. Assuming this is a somewhat "normal" tree from a mundane environment, the use of the lighter colour, especially down by the roots, seems unnatural. The lighter colour works fine at the top of the trunk. My point is that it could probably just be a stylistic choice and be more readily apparent given the right context.
The shape of the tree is fine, but I'm not sure what kind of perspective we are looking at it from.
PS: I am in no way qualified to critique drawings/vector art. However, you asked what people thought about it. So uhh.. yes.
e: OH! It would help if there were any indicators as to time of day (forgot to mention).
You're right; the context needed is that it's concept art of a made-up cartoon tree with holes along its trunk. Concept in mind, it's viewed from about the side (not ground level), and light casts from straight above.
you heard it here folks, adobe's new release is going to be called adobe cc next

the light cast seems to be from many different directions depending on the part of the tree you look at and the ground shadow.
I finally started my first sketchbook :v:

I found one of mine from many years ago today, flipped through and thought two things. "Wow, that was a good idea." and "Who was I trying to impress with this sketchbook?"

Funnily enough, my foundation for concept art/illustration grew out of Niklas Janssen's/Android Arts's tutorial on painting; so it's not impossible that all my work will lead back to the cortex command style in one way or another. And ty, I know it had its flaws but I guess I'm the only one who built a tolerance to how dense and messy the scene of the plane crash is suppose to be.

The tree is skewed too btw - that tho', I decided when I was making the shadow, so the rest may not add up.
I know I went off about how happy I am about improving before but here I go again.
I'm working on a Windrunner portrait, but nearly exactly a year ago I posted another Windrunner Portrait that was really, really pretty terrible. Here's a comparison of that and my work in progress right now:

Left is May 9th, 2014, Right is May 8th, 2015.

I finished this up yesterday, here are some WIP pictures, too. It turned out totally different than I had planned when I originally had the idea, but I think I'm okay with that.

Originally I had planned on it staying soft like this.

Working on this sword, I'm going to model/sculpt it and put it into Skyrim. Probably going to make a quest for it too. Any crits/tips?

Does anyone happen to have a link to that website that shows you various poses and you have a few seconds to draw the gesture before it moves on to the next?
http://www.posemaniacs.com/thirtysecond ?
Also plenty of similar websites on google search https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=gesture%20drawing%20tool
http://artists.pixelovely.com/practice-tools/figure-drawing/ this too

I'm Procrastinating hard on a project that's due on tuesday, so I practiced some poses from reference.

Nice composition! I think you're going in too saturated with the colours though. Also some tighter edges on the ship might be good, but I really like it overall.

Nice work. Drawing from reference is definitely the way to go for learning how to draw things like people holding guns. Quick tip my figure teachers always told me - make sure the outlines of your forms always counteract each other. I'm not the best at figure drawing, and probably not the best qualified to draw a demo, but take a look at this shitty example i threw together:

You do a pretty good job with it but its just a good concept to be aware of
