I'd like to follow a few others from here too.
Here's mine.

Cool, added you guys too, of course!
Jericho you're underselling yourself a bit, and Jallen your gouache stuff is great. You should give ArtRage a try, I think it simulates the texture of different paints better than what you'd get with photoshop (at least, straight out the box).

Not much time today for sketching, but I felt my first were a bit static so I wanted something with a little more motion. Now that I uploaded it that back leg seems a bit fat.

I have several Tumblrs. I set up one for a class I was taking in which we could research and discuss any topic we wanted, so I went deep with video game design here.
I run a webcomic (haven't updated it in years because I'm a butt), and the Tumblr for that is here.
In my third year of uni I learned AS3 and Flash from scratch to make a sidescroller game, and recorded all my progress/learning insights/etc on this blog.
For the aesthetics of the game I did a bunch of research/analysis in this blog.
Tbh I'm not sure whether I went too-wordy with all that research.
My main blog and the only one that I update a the moment is this one. I post art and reblog a bunch of art related stuff that I find interesting. Probably 1/4 of what I put up is social commentary and whatnot as well though. I really should set up an art-only blog.

Is this any good?
Prologue
He slithered through the tunnel at a subdued pace, feeling the rough stones against his belly as he moved swiftly and silently.
The light was growing in the darkness ahead of him, it piqued his curiosity. He just had to know what it was. It danced and wavered across his vision every few heartbeats.
As he edged closer, he heard the sound. A rhythmic thrum that beckoned him closer. He couldn’t resist.
Then came the smell. An acrid odour that lashed at his tongue, yet he was not discouraged. Only more curious.
He was close now. Instead of plunging head first into the light, he chose the wiser path. He approached carefully, slowly, deliberately.
His body slithered in silence as he closed in, and everything started to take shape the closer he got. The tang on his tongue was getting stronger.
The tunnel opened up into a circular chamber, at the middle he saw precious flames sprouting from thin red cylinders. He feared the flames, but his curiosity kept his fear in check.
In the middle stood an altar of dark obsidian. He saw a body prone on the altar. A human body. It was not moving. Another human stood above it, dressed in dark material and chanting in a low tone. With each chant, came the thrumming he’d heard. The thrumming was coming from everywhere at once. It gnawed at his core.
He had to stop the thrumming, and he had just the right idea how to stop it.
He slithered slowly. Keeping close to the walls of the chamber. Without a sound, he navigated his way behind the chanting figure. The odour was getting stronger.
He grinned menacingly. He had him now. He slowly approached the chanter, and just as he was about to sink his fangs into his foot, the chant stopped.
He felt a hand grasping his body. He hissed furiously and tried to lash out at it, to bite it, but the chanter had him.
He flailed around. Nothing happened. The chants resumed.
He looked around him in fear. The chanter had him in one hand, and with the other he held a ceremonial knife. He hissed when he saw the knife.
The chanter held him high above the altar, and with one slash, slit his throat.
His blood flowed freely, and with his last conscious breath, he saw his blood soaking the body below.
Chapter 1
He woke up screaming.
Still mulling over the rest in my mind.
There's a bit of conflict with showing vs telling. "He couldn't resist" "He feared the flames" etc, that you can, and practically already are, showing the audience via diction/word choice and describing of action. Think about what really needs to be said, and what can easily be implied or inferred already.
Another issue is that starting any chapter by a character waking is viewed as a major cliche, and something I'd personally try to avoid. It's like an "easy button" for trying to have an interesting start to a chapter or story. Try to find a more creative approach. Maybe cut ahead to them interacting with another character in the morning while simultaneously thinking about their dream, or even have them bring it up in conversation. Anything.
Otherwise, your first few sentences are interesting enough, and you haven't drowned your reader in unnecessary exposition, rather cut right into some action, so I'd say it's looking promising.

I found out a few days ago that Snapchat lets anyone submit geofilters for any events or places, as long as they follow their submission guidelines, so I made one for a retreat thing that my church is doing. This one was approved in a matter of hours, but I made a few others and I haven't heard back yet so I'm assuming they were rejected.
Here's a link if you guys are interested.

do any of you guys know anything about the Gobelins summer school program? just got the email this morning saying that i got in (so so happy!!!)
would really appreciate any advice if i should pursue it. the biggest thing that's giving me doubts is that it's pretty expensive (2,900 €) and it's only for 11 days...
should i take this opportunity or not? :S
I referenced it from this picture. Thanks for the feedback though, his back definitely is too straight.

Actually it depends on the training. We were trained to keep the body armor facing forwards (the plates are only on chest and back) like this guy. It also eases turning or someshit, I can't remember, it's been 5 years since the army.

No, that is not a good investment for less than two weeks of education. Even if it's a programme of such quality that you could price it that high, you just cannot make that much ground in such a short time, these things take a while to sink in.
look into schoolism, there are some really great mentors getting behind that, and they're offering a pretty decent deal if you back the kickstarter (and actually with the stretch goals I think it'll end up applying to anyone who does courses, not just backers.) Somebody actually posted it here kinda recently I think?
Also there's a lot of great free material, like the loomis collection. Also tuts from big names in the industry e.g. feng zhu cubebrush shaddy safadi etc but be careful of those b/c you're always getting a narrow view of process and you're not getting the actual education they received to get to where they can effectively use the methods they do. Can be nice for inspiration sometimes though.
tbh if you're a beginner (idk I'm just assuming that?) then it probably won't be worth your money to pay into any online stuff for a while. You'll benefit most when you're at least half-succeeding at things, when you have some grounding. having said that I think you can start schoolism courses/subscriptions at any time and the time limit starts from then. so you could keep them for later, unless you want to shell out for crit from the artists (you get that with a higher fee for a given course) but again, better to wait until you're pretty alright for that sort of investment.
Your rifle guy is standing far too straight. When you're holding a rifle, you're supposed to have your torso angled pretty far into the rifle. You're also supposed to lean into the rifle.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/peNjNNF.jpg[/t]
I'm not leaning so far into the rifle here because of the scope since the scope is far higher than the iron sights, but hopefully you get the gist.
[editline]12th May 2015[/editline]
Actually, I'm looking at it a second time now, now I'm not even too sure if his torso is rotated enough for a proper pose, that or I've never really learned how to hold a rifle. His neck seems fine though.
bro watch the chicken wing! I was always told to keep the right elbow tucked down close to your body for a smaller profile.

I've heard good things about Schoolism, enough for me to back a year sub (which unfortunately only starts in September), and even better things about the actual classes with the tutors. Issue is they have very limited space and range from $500 to over $1000 USD. Out of my price range, unfortunately!

Don't want to seem like I'm spamming, but hey ho.
Lazy day today. Wish I knew more about texture (is that the term?) to give it a bumpier, scaly look. Not sure if I messed up the shadows and highlights.

Your lines look legit!
That's actually something I never got much education on - how are you supposed to weight lines? Do you use thin lines if an edge is in the light and heavy lines for edges that are shadowed, or is there more to it than that?
Then you should show us some of the project (a game of some sort?) at least, instead of just someone else's commissioned concept of it

I'm not an expert at all but I think line weight indicates the heaviness/thickness of something?

This why you don't try making something when you're tired.

I don't actually know either. I think its that plus maybe for mass as well, like dnqboy said.
No idea.
what kind of pens do you use?
Brush pen for most of the lines and a generic 0,2 thick marker for the thinner ones. Copic markers for the gray and red parts.
I don't know what the pen I did the white lines with is called but it's made by Pen-Touch. Took a picture if that helps.

More of this thing. Took so long trying to get a decent perspective on the left leg that I gave up and gave him a robo-peg leg. Hands were meant to be clasped together but now he's kind of meekly flipping you off and pointing at it or something.
The lighting is a bit fucked, pretty sure.
