Ended up doing some layer blending + smudge + moderate filtering... (smudge, blur, then resharpen) Tried to kill as much hard brush as possible so the trees still look distant. Got a cool foreground and background effect by using different amount of efffect on each place.

He was going to be holding a thermal detonator but a) I didn't know what it looked like and b) this is more fun.
The nostrils are eyes, and the the eyes are ears; perhaps, is it the other way around?
Shit well, I guess he'll have to smell sound.

It seems he's backlit as well, but you have inconsistent shadow hue. This makes sense if the light sources were red and blue, but then one side would be shadowed in mostly red and the other side mostly blue. You have to account for all of the reflected light that goes into your shadows as well, which is a lot easier to do with a setting. Since this is just a character, you should probably stick to a single color for most of the shadows.
Exaggerated shading with complementary colours, that's all.

It looks like it is in front of the red leaves which doesn't look right to me, sort of distracting me how those two trees interact with each other. Also not a fan of the blur filter you put on it. I like the colors though, those are pretty good, also like the way the eye flows through the image.

I still kind of like the original colours though. [IMG_thumb]http://40.media.tumblr.com/51ce45304df2bf3cfe39bf1b6777085f/tumblr_noli98fpWu1r5srq1o1_1280.png[/IMG_thumb]
Nah the original color worked better, especially the red shadow on the skin. Maybe incorporate the secondary red light source that way, like a smaller shadow with a different hue inside the regular shadow area.
I was just saying that the color of the shadows were inconsistent. The red would be fine without the random blue shadows.

If you continue with the red I'd tone it down a buttload
idk what you're talking about those colors work perfectly together
I've never done a self portrait before, surprisingly squinty eye look, activate
Fantasy characters in setting of modern Russia needs to be a thing. Following all that witcher hype, i decided to make a little speculation on how he would look like if the story took its place nowdays. Having swords made of light alloys or some hi-tech devices like potion autoinjectors and so on sounds pretty cool, huh? Anyways, here's a quick shitty ugly disgusting concept sketch based on that. Wanted some feedback of the comp of this wip the sphere in the background is gonna be some crashed ship eventually, I just haven't figured it out yet also not sure if the darks are too dark again, i'm tired and at this point everything on my screen looks too dark

Looks really big, though, but that might of been intentional so eh. Also, the footprints on the mountain feel a little off, but I can't really put my finger on it.

Love the mountains and the ship looming above the fog in the distance.
foreground has too much contrast in my opinion, distance doesn't read well. The back looks well, regardless.
Hey guys, I've been trying to get into art more seriously. But I feel like I'm lacking any sort of real direction. I guess my goal is to get to a decent level of skill, but I'm not quite sure how to go about that. I'm practicing with references on my sketchpad, but I'm wondering what I might be missing. Right now I have a basic grasp of some fundamentals but, well, I don't think I'm good. Does anyone have tips for me to keep in mind as I'm practicing? Maybe give me some insight as to how you all got to where you are right now? I know what I'm asking is vague.
I'd look at what you want to draw. I've always wanted to draw characters, so I've started learning anatomy. I'm working on perfecting my ability to draw credible "perfect" men and women, and after that I'll likely look at branching out into different physical characteristics. If you can find one area that you want to focus on, then nail down all the constituent areas to a tee, then worry about other things. Try to find one area that you'd really like to learn. My $0.02.

Hey I like your style, what do you think of making a little webcomic? Nothing to lose, right?

Do all these things, post the result here, people will tell you what you need to work on.
Hey I like your style, what do you think of making a little webcomic? Nothing to lose, right?
I don't draw on a regular basis and I don't have many ideas for actual comics (I snatched the idea for the one I just posted from here) also hosting costs money I'll put the thought in the back of my head though, drawing geometry head people is fun [t]http://41.media.tumblr.com/2d6c99152ba168c0252f7da756581a9a/tumblr_nopovl5X4y1tw46sto1_1280.jpg[/t]
