When you have a large interior space like that, there are lights all over the ceiling which are going to cause the shadow under the plane to weaken and scatter, like so:
[t]http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/z/alitalia-embraer-hangar-night-modern-airplane-back-view-maintenance-specialist-ready-to-repair-airplane-frontal-33644882.jpg[/t]
Considering the tail lifts up from the ground, it makes no sense for the shadow to become darker whereas it becomes lighter under the nose, which is doing the same thing.
Besides those black shadows this looks really cool! You should totally consider using more colors, because now blacks just ruin your picture, making it look dirty.
You guys sure know how to keep a guy on his toes! Thanks a ton for the feedback. Kinda difficult to change things this late in the game, but hows this?

^ This is a really good concise guide. Once you know 1, 2 and 3 point perspective, it's pretty much just common sense as to where those should be applied.

The tail of the plane is a bit difficult to get a quick read on - I think the fact that there are a couple of kissing lines (the right edge of the tail wingy bit and the line down the fuselage for instance). It's a tricky thing to get right when you're dealing with such a complex object in perspective, but I'd try a slightly different angle next time and see what you can do to clarify the shape the tail makes.
It might also be caused in part by the way the perspective falters where the tail meets the fuselage - the tail seems to be slipping down off the right side of the body.
Other than that it's great!

It's a blade, before the sharp edge has been made.

Did ya make it out of a file? I heard those make great blanks.

Wont the in and out tempering mess with the edge though?
I wish I had the time and money to learn metalwork, it seems so interesting. Seeing "Damascus" steel being made is fucking beautiful.

It's honestly not very expensive to get all set up with a forge and anvil, I'd say you should definitely try it, I did and I feel in love with it and can actually sell my things for a little cash and its an amazing feeling.

I don't have the space either, I live in a tenement building. I'll be moving to an even smaller space in a few months. Maybe one day when I get a place with a garden I'll invest in the tools.

how about something like this? Just slapped colours here and there, made shadows less black and saturated and also added some shadows to make things look a bit less flat
[t]http://i.imgur.com/YSrGgPn.jpg[/t]
I know it's not great, colours are kinda shit, and changing the palette is probably not the best idea, but the whole thing was so yellow, which is kinda wrong because of aerial perspective thing and just because this makes it harder to tell where is the actual focus of the picture. Not to mention that more colours == more fun :)

Aerial perspective wouldn't really be a thing in such a small location, unless you're doing an image set in the huge-ass hanger (somewhere in the UK I think?) that has its own microclimate

the colors are cool, but i kind of prefer the yellowish tint. for me, it gives more of a military/ww2 vibe, as though this were some sort of weapon of war, whereas the blue colors feel more sci-fi, which i don't see in this picture (despite the futuristic design of the aircraft)
Did another study.

If you're just starting out, draw from reference. Fantasy characters are great but its too easy to hide mistakes behind design.
Anyway, I just finished this
