Seriously though, a lot of movement in that paint.
thanks a lot for all the feedback!
i mean it! i don't know why this got rated funny. it just made my day to see you guys liked the dragon piece. i didn't really like it when i uploaded it but some people liked how dynamic it is and i agree now!

Why does she look so derpy?
edit
I think it was cuz her eyes were too close together and she had a fucked up nose, it's still fucked up but I am just gonna go draw more faces with refs.
well, her entire face is smooshed into half of what it should be.

Part of a new years card i was commissioned to draw for a company in Japan
I really like the artwork but I was wondering, since the girl in pink is the fanservice character, shouldn't she reflect that in the drawing? Sorry if I come off as rude.
here's something i completely gave up on. i lost track of what i was doing and i didn't stay true to the original sketch.

i might try approaching the same concept though, because i really like the idea of a captured dragon on high seas.

also i tried photobashing for the ship but i really suck at photobashing so the whole thing looks pretty yucky.
I'm currently working on my first fantasy story in bursts.

I'm open to all criticism.

I would've in most cases but this was for a commissioned traditional japanese new years card so i toned it down a bit

It's been a while since I posted in this thread.
A friend of mine who's in a band asked me to make lil' something for them. So far I've managed to sketch out the drummer and the vocalist. I'd post this on the FB group but he wants it to be a surprise for them.

It's good face/hair practice for me. Used their photos as references obviously.
messy thumbnail, doing snow/lighting practice. i made 4 and this is the only one that came out good

Inked traditionally, colored digitally, it's the cyclops-type girl named Mynt! The anatomy and perspective are probably all fucked up but hey, better try and fail than never try at all, and I kinda like the way it looks
what is she doing
being an anime
it's kind of a dynamic pose, but it comes off very 'posed' like someone standing awkwardly waiting for someone to take a photo. Always something to work on

Pretty much this. I'm going to work on making more expressive, meaningful poses in the future
so I did this picture as a test for my graphic tablet...it's a 'skin concept' on one of the Smite(videogame) characters - Ullr(he uses bow and axes) as The Hooded Vigilante based on CW's Arrow TV show.

I don't think scribbling is a good idea, and I should try a different approach.
The characters combined - Ullr [t]http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/smite.gamepedia.com/thumb/d/d6/T_Ullr_Default_Card.png/250px-T_Ullr_Default_Card.png?version=49491cf919ed092a7cfa84cdc6879f45[/t] and Arrow [t]http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/11117/111175090/4168230-arrow-pilot-costume.jpg[/t]
even if you're moderately experienced with traditional tools, digital tablets are going to take some adjustment. Building your hand-eye coordination is one thing, but painting things up in photoshop is going to take some understanding of how your tools work, and how you can utilize digital processes to create more refined effects. First suggestion is learning to utilize your pressure sensitivity for opacity, then for size.
or rather put the tablet away entirely and learn to draw a bit first
Hey so I use the HUD Colour Picker (Photoshop CS5 onwards, hold ALT+SHIFT then Right Mouse, it's funky) but the excessively huge hotkey plus the fact that I have to squeeze my pen button with my thumb gives me sore hands.
Here is a solution for if you want to only have to press ONE KEY to do all that shit. It takes a minute of fiddling with to get it working smoothly - I unticked 'Disable Alt Menu' and now it works absolutely perfectly.
get a load of this shit

I've been attempting to use a mouse lately to do electronic art, but the program I am using seems to be terrible. What would peoples personal opinions be? As well what would you guys recommend as a good starting tablet? New to electronic art, not new to art in general so something fairly decent but cheap so I can see if it's something to stick with would be nice if anyone can reccomend. To keep moderately on topic though map I whipped up for a tabletop game in an hour or so, other than the atrocious job I did on the mountains how do you guys handle transitions of colors/blending in general? I found it to be extremely hard without it being apparent brush-strokes all over the image.
The only things I have much experience with when it comes to 2D images:
-Photoshop if you can afford it or if you feel like taking your moral soul in your own hands
-Paint Tool Sai if you feel like a cheaper program geared more towards painting and far, far less towards image/photo editing
Gimp is supposed to be good and also is free, so give that a shot too before you try anything else I reckon. I've never tried it.
