I get far too carried away with warmup paintings

According to this episode, the creator of these art pieces committed suicide recently because of brutal perfectionism:

I hope you guys don't criticize your guys to this harsh extent, partially because your guys' artwork rules and partially because your inner critics can be horribly out-of-sync with your audience.

Stormy conifer forests man, always been my favorite thing in the world, don't know why.
Good work.

those fruits don't look very fresh
There's too much darkness on them and they look bruised as a result. It's otherwise good imo and I'm happy to see the guy working on that stuff.
This thread always make me feel inadequate when posting.
Finally got into drawing again after 10 months. University has not been kind to me :(
First time trying to draw digitally. This was 1 week ago.

Drawing and painting with a mouse almost made me suicide, but the feeling after each stroke you lay down, seeing colors and brushes applied upon each others feels so good..

Really enjoying this little Water Colour quest I gave myself, hoping to use all the postcards I've got by the end of summer

do you start with a sketch first? It's gonna help immensely if you can make sure your proportions are correct with lines first before jumping into painting

Painted an apple to compare to an old one I found from October.
Dunno if it's an improvement or just more time spent on a cleaner process.

I really like that style, too bad you left it floating in space this time though :v:

Had some fun with blending in SAI and experimenting with different brushes
experimented with shading, the character design is more straight and simplistic than the other ones because this one's for an animation. Gotta keep it simple.

pardon the size, I was not aware of how actually huge it was

Try shuffling the head back a bit, its looking too disconnected from the neck right now. Somewhere closer to the middle or right in front of the lighter colour bang on that side should work a bit nicer for the neck alignment
It feels like maybe your stylizing without enough basis in real anatomy though. Try doing a couple sketch sessions from life (or photos) and some studies. They dont have to be good, but just doing a little work with real world anatomy can be a huge benefit to stylized work :)
The head being too far forwards is a symptom of a problem, not a problem in itself. The drawing is a combination of symbols without much thought about forms. You haven't drawn a solid object, you've drawn a collection of representations of an objects parts. The result of this is the head doesn't actually connect to the neck, when you draw it you need to draw through the forms you are trying to produce so you end up with a believable 2D projection of a 3D thing - even if you are going for a stylised cartoon look.
I wouldn't be looking at anatomy just yet, I would suggest focusing on 1, 2 and 3 point perspective, then practice drawing lots of 3D objects from life / ref.

truth be told, that picture was cropped because I tried doing perspective stuff with the arms, but it ended up looking like she had giant square tumors :v:

Feedback would be sweet, I'm really liking the idea of working illustration into my designs. Studying Graphic Design at uni next year so I expect I'll do loads more practice over Summer!
I think the hand needs the most work done, particularly on the orientation and form of the pinkie & thumb. The orientation of the wrist from the forearm is off, too. Other than that the shoulders would probably look better if they were wider and tensed up-- might give it a more 'powerful' appearance given the pose he's in. Perhaps the white glow on Earth could be slightly smaller as well?

Might take a break from uploading for a while to practice, or start on a couple page comic using a messier style. Stay tuned!

Thanks man, The hands bothered me but it was the first time I've actually drawn hands that looked like hands, so I didn't really want to delete them. I''m currently looking for another idea for a poster I can incorporate illustration into, then I'll give it another try.
something for a friend.

One of my projects in my art class this year was doing a Reduction print with linoleum. This is my favorite out of the 6 that I made.

that's really cool, but I feel like it wasn't, for lack of a better word, "conducted" very well. Like, I can tell it's a skull, and I can tell that the teeth are wine glasses, and all that stuff, but when you look at it as something that isn't a skull, it looks... weird.
I mean, I can't really tell what the bottom of the 2 people are supposed to be. I wanna say chairs, but they look more like tentacles. The sleeves are weird looking too, because they're floating in the air and defying gravity. And the afros look really out of place considering everything else.

Probably no surprise that How to Train Your Dragon is my favorite animated film. And it's the one that introduced me to the work of Nico Marlet who I love.

So I've been taking a little texture lesson from him to reproduce on one of my OCs.

Done! Looked better without color but it was just practice anyway.
Drew a thing for a friend's birthday - I never normally spend as much time on things as I did with this.

I see your point and I thank you for the criticism but I just did it the way I felt like doing it, without wanting to make it perfect or something (Which I think is something I cannot achieve since I'm not really amazing at it). I know it's messy and scrawled but it was fun.
Two things I did not all too long ago. First a fast sketch of a necromancer with retunie, dunno if I will finish, still in early stage, then a old knight face construction and "oldness" practice.
