I would make the glow around the edge of the planet more blue and lighten the edge of the planet. The clouds are thousands of miles too far off of the surface of the planet if you're going for realism, but they look awesome like that.
painting from imagination, about 2 hours
I like how it looks overall, though I think you could have benefited from avoiding pure black as a color for shadows. Usually for clear outdoor scenes you can treat the sky as a large diffuse blue light source, try replacing the black colors with dark shades of blue, or possibly only replace the lighter portions of the shadows.
making a space game with my buddy
These look pretty great, though I think you could try tinting the atmosphere of the planet blue.
So yesterday at work, there was basically nothing to do, so I decided to make a lightbox from wood veneer, because why not. Simple CAD plan of it. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/DMyFC0p.png[/thumb] The box. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Qdh2ISE.jpg[/thumb] The box with a lightsource inside it. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/BZs3L8P.jpg[/thumb] If you're wondering why the wood looks darker/blurry, it's because the ISO was at 200 and the shutter speed was low.
So I redid the painting with the help of the critique I received on here. I put the focus on its head like all the others with the use of lighting, fixed his right arm and reorganized the foreground for composition reasons
That looks awesome, though the pose kind of says "dude, how much did I drink last night?"

I'd say they look good in both of them, but I like the darker red in the 2nd one more.

thanks for the comments, guys. I appreciate it
I'd say they look good in both of them, but I like the darker red in the 2nd one more.
I liked the darker red in the foreground more too, but had to lighten it up a bit to match it with the brightness of the light shining on Ihsan.
I made an augmented reality project. The scanned image is a bit smaller than A4 when printed out, but the exam required me to send it via email so I never did print them. Edit: they're going to be live for 30 days (and layar is a free app for android and ios), so if you guys want here are the images and you can scan them yourself with the Layar app. There is only one part of the comic though, if you click the read button on 2 and 3 it opens a "coming soon" image

Might as well. Still a WIP.
i love this thread.
the almost final model:
I really like the results into 3D. You mentioned it's not finished, but I still wanna add that the wrappings on the legs need a lot more contrast against the skin. I think it could have more variation in the saturation overall but I can't say much at this point in your project. A trader looking to sell some merchandise
thanks for pointing that out, I'm still playing with the colors a bit and I'll try experimenting with the saturation. The skin blending in with the wraps is probably because I got a little too carried away with the post processing stuff here's how it looks without most of that: http://puu.sh/igyx5/928a8111ed.jpg
I am having some troubles with painting. How do you remove the lines without making your painting looks like total ass? [t]http://i.imgur.com/x5qrj71.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/fyZxWdQ.png[/t]
I am having some troubles with painting. How do you remove the lines without making your painting looks like total ass? [t]http://i.imgur.com/x5qrj71.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/fyZxWdQ.png[/t]
Lines are placed where there is sharp contrast between light and dark or different colours, so anywhere there is a line you need to develop that distinction with your tones instead. Ive learned from a lot of trying you will have a much easier time working this out with no lines (except a very faded sketch layer to work from) than working with them then removing them.
This might get washed under but there was a facepuncher who made this animation about a cat in the shape of a cube. Anyone have it?
late but the old one is so much nicer haha
If you're talking about the one on the left, then I'm kinda surprised that you would say that, because the one on the left looks kinda bland and ugly in comparison to the apple on the right which looks more like an actual apple.
I think they're both on the same level tbh The one on the left has had less attention payed to values and how the gloss of an apple often helps to describe its form. The one on the right is clearly more apple-shaped (in my experience art teachers spend a fair amount of time in fruit shops finding the iconic shaped fruit that is closer to what we imagine when we think of that fruit than a boring round shaped fruit that, if viewed in black and white, could be a pear or a peach or anything in between), and while the glossy bits are beautiful, the shadowed areas around the edges don't quite match with reality (or if they do, the model wasn't lit as well as it could have been) and this flattens it and takes away that sense that it's a 3d object. I've never painted fruit in my life though so
