Couldn't sleep - did something to pass the time that I kinda liked.
I don't recommend drawing each strand of hair like that.
Stop petting your lines.
But I think for this one you are aiming for this "creepy" look, so it's find, I guess?
I wasn't really trying to make it creepy, I was just doing some warm ups with faces, like the last one. Also a bit of a character design.
Have you done much drawing from life / photo?
At one point, yeah. Most of them were self portraits, though. And i wasn't very good at it.

Really proud of this one. Feels good to sit down, finishing something, and actually have fun doing it.

If you're serious about improving, I highly recommend spending a load of time drawing from reference, trying to get as close to realistic as you can with no attempts to implement a style. Nobody is "very good" when they start, but it's through drawing real things that they become capable of drawing real things better, and build up a "visual library" (as feng zhu says) in their head that lets them draw non-real things based on their understanding of how real things look.
I can't emphasise how critical it is, having been through the process myself I can honestly say it is like power levelling your drawing ability.
I know this is "cheating" to some degree, since it's still just a 3D cuboid, but I tried drawing a box of tissues.

Try getting some bits much darker so the depth really pops out. Good so far!

pretty bad as a study but it's alright as its own thing
Well, you made me really want some tea.
I don't drink tea.

you're really good at transparent stuff, like the glass and tea, but you need to work on the more solid things like that spoon, especially the shading. It doesn't really look like the color of the tea is reflecting onto the spoon, but instead looks like the spoon was originally painted red... if that makes sense.

Oh man, I thought I was in the 3D art thread, and thought this was your render. Threw me for a loop!
i drew a gal

Any criticisms apart from the obvious mistakes (the undershirt and the hands)?
I should do some portraits next, my faces are a hit and miss.

Right now it looks stiff, I think it might be because of the elbows. Elbows should poke out from the neck but still point downwards (unless the head's hunched over them). I think you should practice drawing in more complicated poses, since the pose she's in right now is, like I said, stiff. Make her flex out a bit, but keep it realistic. Also, her legs are pretty flat, and don't have much depth to them. Spread them out a bit, make them look like each leg is a separate object, and maybe add to wrinkles in there to make them feel like they have weight.
And it's not just faces you should focus on, lad. You need to focus and expand on everything. You have a good style, it just needs some work.
[editline]15th June 2015[/editline]
Actually that thing with the legs was wrong. Make them look connected instead of separate, but the can still move independently (same with arms)
you've been improving in leaps and bounds since you first posted bynine and it's inspiring to see

crazy long neck. just learn to draw a skeleton first! I say your bodies need more work than your faces

Don't apologize for that, this painting is sick.
Signing is fine and expected. Watermarking is silly.
I would only watermark things you intend to sell on sites like Redbubble or things like that when you want to post them but don't want anyone using the file.
Anyone got tips for getting motivated and staying motivated? I'm going into my third year on a games art course and I still can't draw - due to my lack of practice. I can never bring myself to do it: I just get angry and cant focus, I couldn't tell you how much paper I've just torn up and thrown in the bin.
Not looking for drawing tips or sympathy, I'm looking for advice on learning how to enjoy the process and not get angry every time I draw.

just relax, and understand that every failure is another step towards success. You know you're not good at drawing - so what do you have to lose? The trick to overcoming being angry at yourself is to just loosen up and accept what you're doing, whilst maintaining a sense of self-awareness trying to improve.

I absolutely love your line work, but the hand holding the foregrip looks a bit too angled. Maybe that's just me though. Great work otherwise.

Nah, I see it too hah. Thanks for pointing that out. Added to the list of things to fix.
Dunno what the consensus is towards this sort of thing in here, but I just set up a bigcartel shop and have a few ink drawings up for grabs. I'd really appreciate it if some of you guys check 'em out, thanks!

(Sorry for the promo pic, only thing I had on hand :v:)
you should open up a society 6 shop if you haven't already!
I feel like a lot of those drawings would work well as All Over print tees if you worked with them a little
