I'd say that module is really out of place. It kinda blends with the guys, thus making a glance jump from them to it and back and forth. Removing it makes the composition so much more consistent imo.
So my least favourite design got picked for my space magazine catalog gig so go figure haha. Super WIP, C&C please https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enceladus
Assuming the top of Saturn is on the right side of the image, I don't think the sunlight would be coming from the direction that it is coming from, going forward and backward in the direction of the camera would be the way that the sun is coming from. Also looking at saturn it looks entirely lit from the side the camera is on, so , the sun would be behind the camera (and I think towards the right a bit as well, so the shadows would be going towards the top left from the objects and people.) also also I believe that the orbit of that moon wouldn't allow for such a view of the rings, they would be more dead on from the side, rather than being able to see the top of the rings like that

The shadows on the snowman seem off as well. I agree that the module seems like it doesn't fit in anywhere in the picture.
Here's a shot of my Strake coffee table from the my show. Fabricated out of walnut, steel and glass. 20"x60"

I agree its distracting right now but I don't want to call it off just yet. Also agreed on the speculars
Assuming the top of Saturn is on the right side of the image, I don't think the sunlight would be coming from the direction that it is coming from, going forward and backward in the direction of the camera would be the way that the sun is coming from. I agree the light logic is off, so what I think I'm going to do is consolidate the light source as coming from the sun, which is behind the camera to the left. Meaning I'll move the shadow on saturn from its rings to the right more, add some gradual falloff to the right side, and move the shadow of the photographer so it points slightly more towards the snowman. Also you're right, Enceladus has an inclination of 0.019° so I'm taking some artistic liberties. I do think the fat rings are important in communicating that its Saturn though Anyway you guys are the greatest! Thank you all so much for the input mwah

But the detective was also a tank for some reason and he had a cannon on his back like that. He used it to rocket jump from buildings to catch a criminal who was getting away with a helicopter or something.

Well, I didn't expect this to take such a morbid turn as I'd actually been working on it for the past few days, but now I can dedicate it to Iwata: Here are the first two games' logos for comparison. Subtitle thing is based off of the Japanese SMW logo, and the big, bright blue 'U' is... Well, that's obvious. I'm starting to get pretty good at Inkscape, don't you think?

I dunno if it would interest anyone but today is the last day you can get Manga Studio 5 & CLIP STUDIO PAINT PRO for $15 (Digital Only). Thought about sharing it just in case it might help someone.
Why do they sell "both" Manga Studio 5 and Clip Studio Paint when they're both the exact same software
Why do they sell "both" Manga Studio 5 and Clip Studio Paint when they're both the exact same software
You just get the Clip Studio Paint Pro download, they're so much the same they use the two names interchangably. On the site it's referred to as Manga Studio, the download provided is however Clip Studio.

I'm trying my hand at digital painting again, starting with 'photorealism' so I can get the hang of the process. It didn't turn out nearly as dramatic as I'd hoped so I'll probably revisit it when I have a sense of my tablet enough to have some originality and style. [editline]15th July 2015[/editline] or just make it a chiaroscuro lol
Those are nice silhouette thumbs, the further development is a bit of a disaster though haha
can you elaborate
aww yeaa let the motherfuckin art lessons begin
Craig Mullins one still not out??
can you elaborate
The thumbs are nice and lively, imaginative and have nice if cartoonish proportions. the sketches are messy and amateurish and don't tell us anything that the silhouettes haven't told us already - with those, the outline and action are good, all of the interior work is sort of filled in by the viewer. by redoing the same thing with bad linework you're resolving that implied detail, but in a way that delivers a poor result, so a lot of the value of the char thumb is lost. Not just that, but you lost the liveliness and spontaneity, you made them stiff and lifeless, like wooden toys. To take a nice silhouette and -improve- it by resolving it in linework, you need firstly nice drawing technique but also solid ideas of perspective in forms, drapery, anatomy, that kind of thing. With the silhouette our eye is filling all of that in, so you have to be very capable to beat that impression in developing it. again the thumbs are great, I'm really impressed. Just need to study a lot of stuff to begin executing ideas well in more finished ways
