Also I'm not sure the pink stuff on his face (blood) is that obvious. Any advice on how to make the blood look more like blood?

Blood dries dark red. It can appear pink because it wears off, revealing the skin underneath.
Blood very often dries dark dark red.
the original color just made it look like he had a really deformed face

Scar is light pink, dried blood is dark red or even dark blue due to the iron content in red blood cell.

So I bought my very first graphic tablet today and I made these terrible sketches for practice.

Today I finished my very own scale model (1/72). My uncle had made a ton of them when I was a kid, but I always was interested in the aircraft, not how he made it. So naturally, my first one is extremely rough around the corners. Biggest blunder was that I thought the plastic was the right color from the start, so I didn't paint the hull. Understood the mistake when started painting the cockpit and noticed that it was a different color. (I assumed that everything is standardized and paint will magically be exactly the same shade as the molds).
