quality = paint + jpeg rape
I draw a lotta art of my character because I get bored but I did this one like two nights ago and I still like it. Was messing around with textures and stuff.

I made a logo for my mate's server, the name, a small icon, and a combination of them that looks pretty cool. Any criticism would be nice.

two of these are broken and I wanna know why you got 15 palettes haha, put them on an image hosting site or something
I like those! Would you be interested in letting me use them as concept art for my radio show?
Concept art for radio lol
Yes, because the character will get a link to the satellite that holds all the recordings to upload images. Which in reality will be uploaded to the official facebook page for the listener to follow. That is where I would upload the concept art
Today I finished my very own scale model (1/72). My uncle had made a ton of them when I was a kid, but I always was interested in the aircraft, not how he made it. So naturally, my first one is extremely rough around the corners. Biggest blunder was that I thought the plastic was the right color from the start, so I didn't paint the hull. Understood the mistake when started painting the cockpit and noticed that it was a different color. (I assumed that everything is standardized and paint will magically be exactly the same shade as the molds).

Had fun. Looking forward to building new models.

Awesome community, with some awesome builds in the 'top of all time' section.
So I enrolled in a class with Robert Kondo and Dice Tsutsumi about Painting with light and color.
This first week we're supposed to do 5 life studies of diffused lighting.
Here is my first assignment, any comments?

Concept art for radio lol
Why not? Sometimes when I write I like to do sketches (which you could call concept art) to help me figure out how things look, how a location is layed out, etc, in a way that writing words on paper doesn't let me. It's about running through the design process to give yourself something well-developed to describe
I actually have a leather notebook filled with notes written in first person of my character, complete with sketches of areas and geographical locations and vehicles. Helps me keep my character real

Any pointers on composition/values?
The tree leaves seem flat compared to the rocks and ground. Otherwise, I like it!
Why is it that even young people have lines on their face in real life, but as soon as I draw a few in they look like they're fifty

Mehhh... kinda shit by the thread's standards
An old OC that I decided to dig up and fool with, experimenting with new software/techniques.

Krita?
Krita?
Aye, how could you tell?
I'm working in flash right now and doing animation, but I've always had trouble drawing smooth and consistent lines which makes everything take fifty times longer than it needs to take. My tablet is pretty small which might be a contributing factor but I don't think that's the biggest issue. I've heard of things like Lazy Nezumi which will help you out but I'm on a mac and it's not available. Is there some sort of a trick to this? What I'm doing now is zooming in hopes that the little jaggies and such won't be noticeable when I zoom back out, and I've been going back and manually fixing up the lines. Is this just a matter of practice?

The sketch brushes
An idea that I animated for someone:

Because they're creases and wrinkles, not hard firm lines.
Actual lines, often in black indicates a really strong shadow. Nobody has lines on their bodies unless they've drawn them on.
I get what he's saying. People have microscopic lines. But drawing them even with the lightest shades makes them look old. Answer is, don't draw the lines.
Some more practice I thought I'd share. Sorry for uber pic size but I can't seem to be able to emb it properly...

This looks very flat mostly because there's no light logic - next time pick a light source or direction and paint everything with that in mind - the way I do it is I pretend I'm a game engine or 3D rendering program and try and replicate the way light should behave.
Also use a bigger, less scribbly brush - it'll just look more unified and finished.
That aside, I think you're on the right track. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you post in this thread.
Why is it that even young people have lines on their face in real life, but as soon as I draw a few in they look like they're fifty
I have the same problem. It's because art is a simplification of reality, and we've come to expect that. When we see a line on a young person's face in a drawing, we put much more emphasis on that than you are probably expecting, due to humans' primal hypersensitivity towards face analysis and recognition.

Looks like you let the boundaries of your canvas dictate the pose and anatomy of your figure - next time make a light sketch of the ideal pose before you commit, so you can nip problems like that in the bud.
Also check your foreshortening on his left arm - it looks like his forearm just doesn't exist. Also as a general rule, try to avoid having limbs taper to points at the knees and elbows - real forms overlap and stagger each other slightly. That said, keep studying anatomy and doing what you're doing and have fun with it!
