this is nice; are those bricks geometry or height maps? it might be a good idea to pad them out a little bit with some other more subtle bricks surrounding them because they can appear a little jarring
There geometry, I had tried to make them less in your face by using vertex painting, but It didnt quite work, something about the material started looking strange, so I had to be quite sparing with it. Ill take what you said on board though :) Thanks.
Thanks! I've been doing themed sketches, and I wanted to do a Boogeyman/Child Snatcher thing
I wrote a thing about creative blocks, and the things I struggle with as a writer.

Anyway, this is apparently a place for written works too, so I put it here. If it isn't, I'll snip it.
For the few 2d animators here, have you guys heard of a program called Cacani? I just heard about it and it's pretty neat how you can draw the keyframes and it somewhat automates the inbetweening process.
I've been working on a wargame in my spare time and using Inkscape to make counters. These are 150x150 each, intended to be printed at 300DPI to produce half-inch counters. Rather than go the traditional route of cardboard counters, I got 11x17 self-adhesive label paper (for making shipping labels) and intend to print on that, then stick to 2mm styrene plastic sheeting cut into 1/2" squares, to make double-sided glossy plastic counters.

I also produced a homemade hex board by using an online hex map generator to create a blank hex map sized for 24x36", then I got a custom poster site to print it for about fourteen bucks shipped, then I stuck it in a top-loading 24x36" poster sleeve. So now I have a map- obviously it's just a big blank white map, but the game is a space wargame so all I need to do is create a few custom hex piece overlays to represent planets, and the poster sleeve lets me use dry erase markers and then wipe them off after the game.

I'm pretty excited with how this is turning out.

Hey graphic design peeps:
What blend/brush mode do I use I want to paint a color with half transparency, but when I brush over that brush with the same brush it doesn't get any less transparent?

What program are you using? Photoshop has the color replacement tool which makes your brush a color replacer, but I'm not sure about Illustrator or anything else since I don't have that.
Anyway, I'm trying to get past my mental blocks and self doubts in order to finally just draw, good results be damned. Being too concerned with one's flaws is to become one's flaws, so I'm just going to stop paying attention to how much I suck and just draw. I finally broke open the pens I got for my birthday two months ago and found a reference image and proceeded to mess up the proportions... But ultimately I'm happy that I actually just got over myself and drew something for once :v:

I think I could have gone with more uniform line movements for the shading. It just looks really scribbly.

The most straightforward way would be painting at 100% opacity and flow without pen pressure on a new layer which is at 50% opacity

tried some style mixing - the idea is she's summoning a retro-style monster. not sure how well it worked
I like that fuzzy hair.
I've been getting back into drawing recently. Just drew this, took around an hour due to all the lines. I'm quite pleased with how its turned out.

looks real nice, but I can't help imagining that it's a pile of spaghetti in a bubble bath

I though it looked like pile of hair wearing a toupe. :v:
That's quite a heavy angle, it makes it quite tense. I think it would do nicer with a lesser angle personally. Otherwise, cool.

Thanks. I wanted it to seem quite unstable and kind of jarring, just wanted to explain why it was at that angle.

WIP, any tips on the base color for the gold? And I'm wondering if I should soften up the color transitions in her skin, some of them seem kinda harsh. Generally any tips on color would be greatly appreciated!

I'd fix that anatomy first.
Angles of facial features are off, shapes of facial bones are off.
Yeah? I've been kinda staring myself blind at it so I'd appreciate if you gimme something specific.
have you tried mirroring it to get a new perspective
