yeah they're all meant to be on the same page, that's the idea. Also I had the most trouble giving the reddit logo the same feel as the others without making it lose its logos look, so I ended up not even touching it. Can't think of any way to make it remain consistent like all the others without making it lose its distinctness. I'm kind of going for a simplistic/minimalistic look (mainly cause I suck at anything complicated :v:)

Thumbed because huge. I'm working on an album cover :>
no comic sans ever
if you're going to add a different fonts instead of sticking to reddit's original, at least keep to similar solid blocky letters like the others instead of falling into squiggly handwritten looking fonts
I thought the font looked familiar. I didn't even realize it was comic sans, but yeah I should keep the fonts similar
My highschool graphics teacher threatened to remove anyone who was caught using comic sans.

Updated this a bit with some general fixes and additions. Made a version to print for my mom, she's pretty much forcing me to do it.

Hey everyone! Drew Rox again, (ink on paper, colored digitally) with a lot more detail than her previous iterations. The design is maybe a little dorky/silly/anime what with the fingerless gloves on top of the hand wraps and her weird spiky hair, but I think it works okay
Anyway feedback and such would be great
EDIT: fixed hand problem addressed below
Don't know if it's just me but her grip seems wonky because it seems to ignore how the bat is increasing in radius.

this is definitely the last time I'll bother saying this but the face is too masculine

that's some really shaky inbetweening
this is definitely the last time I'll bother saying this but the face is too masculine
I can understand your frustration, given that I've never changed her face to be particularly effeminate despite you constantly asking so, but honestly the reason I'm not changing that is because I like her being rather androgynous. I just dig the look, even if her face doesn't read well as a girl's. Maybe she's a hermaphrodite? Who knows, I might decide that if I actually make a comic or something
Sorry if this seems like waving away criticism, but I wouldn't want you to think (or anyone here to think) I'm being ignorant of criticism
Alright
to me androgyny doesn't really work as having a voluptuous hourglass super feminine body with a man's head on top of it, but if that's what you're actually aiming for then it's all good

Now that's something I ought to think about. It occurs to me, I've pushed her hips and bust out way far since I used to get frustrated when people called her a man, so in the future I think I'll either work on making her overall more ambigious and less voluptuous (if I decide on her being androgynous) or work on the face (if I decide on her being a girl). Either way, thanks!
TBH I saw that character from since a long time ago when you were drawing her, and I never saw how people thought it looked manly. I think she looks fine as she is, just because she doesn't have a particularly feminine face doesn't mean she looks manly. She looks like a girl, just not a girly girl.
To me she just has a not-quite-right-in-the-head sort of look. Not in the way that her head doesn't look right, but in the way that her expression and features give off a sort of pycho street-gang vibe. I do however think that most recent face is more masculine than the previous ones though.

That's sort of like what I've been struggling with very recently, trying to draw the line between what is masculine or feminine. There are some very subtle differences to figure out if you don't want to draw something absolutely stereotypical.
I've been trying to develop this character for a few years, but I'm not that great with anatomy, and I'm very sketchy so I feel like it's a lot up to chance.

is it bad if i cant draw anything without a reference
is it bad if i cant draw anything without a reference
depends, what do you want to do ultimately with your art?
nothing special just draw cause its fun and makes me feel happy when people say nice or thanks if i do requests or something
"requests" sounds like you'd wanna be doing original stuff in which case you probably could do with some drawing ability without any help from reference. Or at least proper use of reference in making original stuff as opposed to direct copies of pictures. but if you already enjoy what you do then it's not extremely important I guess
is it bad if i cant draw anything without a reference
try to study your reference instead of copying it so that after you draw something with a reference, you can draw the same thing from a different angle
i dont do direct copies more like if i want to draw someone sitting i just find a picture of someone sitting and draw them like that and using the picture to figure out how some difficult parts go which i cant make work without reference
i always try to study things but i honestly believe some people just aren't that good with imagining and perceiving things in 3d and im one of those and it makes it very very difficult
it even affects some real life things like not just drawing so dont think that im using it as an excuse or anything
pic related i drew nice lady sitting

I agree, I also draw only from reference because if I don't my drawings usually come out ugly. To me drawing from a reference isn't that different from drawing from memory anyway (I'm pretty sure if you draw the same thing over and over muscle memory will help you draw with less dependency on the reference) . Hell, I have a much harder time being creative when I'm not drawing from reference, I cant really imagine anything unless I'm observing something.

Just to put that out there:
Creativity/imagination, great ideas, cool concepts, beautiful imagery, visual metaphores etc etc comes from work, not just getting it served to you magically when you "feel like" drawing.
Creativity comes from work, doing research on a subject, mixing different existing ideas into a new idea, doodling basic forms until you find a form that appeals to you, etc. Strokes of genius does happen, but is not reliable, and is more likely to happen when you've done some work already and you're stuck, then you take a break, do something else and your mind continues to work on it and at some point the idea might just "magically pop up" in your mind, but it got there because you had done all this work beforehand.
As such references sparking your imagination is just a natural part of the process. You can't just make something out of nothing. When people get drawing inspiration it's because their brain is unconsciously, or consciously thinking about things it's seen before and trying to find things that it really liked. That's why taking a walk for example can be a great creativity boost because your brain relaxes for a bit and just takes in the scenery, gathering new sights and experiences that helps it concentrate on a much bigger picture, and possibly find solutions or new ideas in the environment.

not true, it just takes more practice than you think.
Talent is a joke, it's mostly all about hard work.
