No, you're only boned if you haven't used nor learned how to use a Mac.
Dude, if you can use a PC then learning to use a mac takes like an hour or two at most it's not hard to adapt And besides, pretty much all of the cross platform software is exactly the same. There is literally no difference between using Photoshop or After Effects on a Mac VS using it on Windows. No employer would give a shit about that
A Destiny of Ice and Fire... Mara Sov, House of Wolf. ... but I am a ghost! (Many puns intended in this...)
Wrong, some companies only have Macs and thus require people that already use a Mac, you can't just bring in your personal computer you have to use what they dispose for you. Seen loads of those whilst looking for a job.
Those companies would never require you to already use a mac, the only things you need to know on workstations are how to operate the programs that are identical to Windows ones anyways. If there's any error on the OS part, that's IT's job to come and fix. Employees under design are not obligated to know how to deal with macs in general just the software designated for them. And from what I've seen and heard a lot of studios are ditching macs as of late, our University used to be about 70-80% macs, but now there's just one designated Mac lab while the rest of the school switched to Windows. I don't even think ilm uses macs anymore. A lot of film /game studios and universities are leaving macs behind as a lot of contracts between apple and the education system in America are starting to end and aren't getting renewed these past couple of years. Don't even think you'll see photoshop advertising using Mac os' anymore either.
I wasn't planning on doing this but i felt i had to

No employer would give a shit about that
No, they don't give a shit, that's why it literally says in the title "blablabla - Mac operator" and in the qualifications "Needs to be able to operate a Mac". I don't understand why people are disagreeing with a fact here. It's not like I said every damn employee asks for this, just that those kind of job applications exists. They're not going to hire you if they have to teach you how to use their computers, that should already be a given. You have to re-learn a lot of hotkeys, you have to re-learn how folder structures work, you have to re-learn how to use the taskbar to access your minimized programs, you have to forget about the way you did things in Windows. It doesn't take long to functionally use a Mac, it takes a long time to be as efficient with it because everything is changed in the details. This obviously applies both ways.
Those companies would never require you to already use a mac, the only things you need to know on workstations are how to operate the programs that are identical to Windows ones anyways. I didn't mean that they required people that used Macs in their free time, just that they know how to use one beforehand. Yes, Macs are luckily getting shifted out for a more fluid mix or Windows only, but there are still lots of companies out there that are Mac exclusive. Did gaming studios have a Mac environment to begin with? That would seem counter-intuitive.
A quick story about getting hired using something you don't know about. I once applied for a job at a sign shop, which used adobe illustrator. I showed up for the interview. They had me use Ai right then and there in front of them as a test. Thing is..... Id never touched Ai before that moment. I got the job.
Since the DIY thread is long gone, I figured this is the next best place to post this! I've been working on it for the past week or so and it started off as a steel sled.

Needs some serious AA
Needs some serious AA
Intentional, believe it or not.
i think it looks good without AA, it adds to the sort of pixely look it's got going on!
Intentional, believe it or not.
I believe you :v: If you're going for the retro feel I believe it might look better upscaled

You're good. I like your style. Would you be interested in making concept art?
You're good. I like your style. Would you be interested in making concept art?
Nah, bit too busy with schoolstuff and whatnot. WIP, Commando comics style this is so much fun to do
A short film I finished for this quarter (with last minute music). I'm not crazy about it, but I definitely learned a lot and I'm already working on another film.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/1Qx83yy.gif[/t] Eh.
taking my knowledge from chickens rather than raptors, don't they try to keep their heads level all the time? So his head would stay level, at the same height, while his body bobs up and down
