Does anyone have experience with moving from an off-brand Monoprice/Huion/whatever tablet to a Wacom? I just got my Cintiq 13HD and I can't get the pressure to work in any software, though it all worked fine with my old Monoprice tablet. I can see the tablet pressure is working in the tablet settings dialog, though. To anyone using a Wacom tablet and especially a Cintiq, is there supposed to be a taskbar icon when the tablet is hooked up and working? Nothing like that is popping up for me even though the drivers seem to be working with the expresskeys and screen overlays and such
Mine (both Intuos and Cintiq) works with Photoshop. You need to install WACOM driver first before you plug it into the PC, or Windows will install some funcky driver by default... You might need to unstall that first. After you install the driver, you should be able to open "Wacom Tablet Properties" (simply type that at your start memu) and config your tablet(s) accordingly. Been playing around with it last few days, hopefully will post something today or tomorrow if it doesn't look to bad... Have to get used to actually seeing what I am drawing again, LOL
Yeah I have the Wacom Tablet Properties and such, that's how I can see that the pressure works. It just doesn't go into Photoshop. Do you have a taskbar icon?
You have to use a brush with pressure sensitivity.

More laser cutting, this time it's buttons. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/uE1xkqu.jpg[/thumb]
fixed it up some, i'm definitely much happier with it now, thanks lads

You also have to restart PC after Wacom driver installation. What you should have done... 1. Install Wacom driver 2. Turn off PC 3. Connect tablet 4. Boot up PC 5. Be happy ever after. I did that and things work on 3 machines with 2 tablets.
that's what i was going to do but the official wacom instructions said to plug in the tablet first it works now though so whatever
HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN THIS https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1152958674/the-sensel-morph-interaction-evolved
Damn thats some cool-ass shit
HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN THIS??? 20,000 sensors and over 4000 pressure levels, accurately maps brush bristle strokes and pencils and pens, $250. Now we just have to wait for the screen version and the transformation to digital media will be complete :v: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1152958674/the-sensel-morph-interaction-evolved
Wow
Now we just have to wait for the screen version and the transformation to digital media will be complete :v:
Apart of me is shilling for CastAR because I know the people, but if you put a retro reflective surface over the device you can use the AR glasses. Being close to the grains within the retroreflective material could pose a minor problem, but the combine products should be far cheaper then a wacom display. Plus you could see it in 3D (closer the to high end VR products coming), if that somehow would benefit some 2D artist.

I doubt any painting software will work out of the box. That's why they are not showing painting progress, I suppose... [editline]2nd September 2015[/editline] I can also finally look at what I am painting with Cintiq! Maya, do you know of a good starting point for learning to paint landscapes and backgrounds and such? It's always the part that I have the most trouble with when I work on animation, and you're really good at it. [editline]3rd September 2015[/editline]

Only issue with this might be the lack of precision. It seems like it doesn't have nearly as high a sensor resolution as a graphics tablet

[editline]3rd September 2015[/editline] Only issue with this might be the lack of precision. It seems like it doesn't have nearly as high a sensor resolution as a graphics tablet
I did a lot of oil and photo studies for landscape, and I still need a lot more practice D: One important thing I learned is to start with a large brush and work the way down towards the focus.
I don't know how useful my advice on BGs would be, given that it feels like I stumbled around a lot while learning (and I'm by no means an authority on them). I think master studies help a lot when it comes to backgrounds. Not being afraid to take a long time on your early ones to figure out what works and what doesn't as well, and letting yourself lasso stuff to shift it around. Also looking at good landscapes by other artists and really looking carefully, breaking down why and how they do the things they do. Where do they bend the rules of the real world and add a splash of fog or light to separate out elements? What shape are their rocks and trees really? Do thumbnails. I'm really bad at doing them, but do them. Use references.
Is anyone doing any of the Schoolism courses? I've been slacking so hard lol i'm still on the 2nd assignment :( studies
Just got my very first tablet  [t]http://i.imgur.com/f2TlSw0.png[/t] Not very good, but I'm still honing that hand-eye coordination. Also I don't know how to color. I hate myself for not taking coloring class now.

(don't color pick or trace)

here's two things, this one is old and i remember posting a wip here ages ago. i just figured i'd post the finished thing, it was for a d&d adventure: [t]https://40.media.tumblr.com/0627b8de51e6533eb78f0160c6112ecd/tumblr_nu3tg0H9oW1snm6fco1_1280.png[/t] and this is a doodle to the blade runner soundtrack i did last night. i understand it feels empty but it was cool because it was mainly an experiment with mood and lighting. so i realized something about drawing characters recently. when i post a character drawing, they're very often in a standard pose and on a featureless background, not doing or expressing anything. i have these ideas in my head of what they're like, but those personality traits don't mean anything unless you express them in what you show. to that end, have Rox posing, bathing & smoking after getting beat up, pointing a gun at someone, and being a gross dork btw: anatomy/composition/gesture/character design critiques would be great, if you want
I really like Cintiq! Now I feel like I'm using some sort of traditional medium again :D
Are there brush sets that you guys recommend for painting? The default brushes is kinda eeeeehh..
Are there brush sets that you guys recommend for painting?
[t]https://36.media.tumblr.com/87b687ffd5f851f313152b4540cada01/tumblr_nu3rk5zcv51snm6fco1_1280.png[/t] and this is a doodle to the blade runner soundtrack i did last night. i understand it feels empty but it was cool because it was mainly an experiment with mood and lighting.
fuck that is so simple and so sexy

The game always had simplest designs for it's uniforms, and that's why I loved it.
Are there brush sets that you guys recommend for painting? The default brushes is kinda eeeeehh..
I only use default brushes D:
I only use default brushes D:
Then you are levels beyond human. Because I can't really paint with this. [t]http://i.imgur.com/Li8Wevu.png[/t] It has no pen pressure recognition, has spacing, everytime I want to select a brush I have to manually enable Pen Pressure first.

I have spacing set to zero and pressure sensitivity on opacity and size.
