If this isn't used I'm going to edit it and turn it into Bee Host or something like that and make it look like a beehive.

Had a sketch of this laying around for a while, decided to color it, hope it doesn't look too bad.

This has taken me far longer than it should have but I've finally drawn something I'm happy with.

anybody want to hire me or something?
Seems like you know what you're doing.
The ship is pretty nice, but the background looks like (although it may not be) an overprocessed photo. That's not bad in and of itself if you own the rights to the photo (if it is a photo), but the photorealism of it means that the fireball, smoke and puffs of cloud where the fireball is touching down look very out of place. Saturation wise the fireball doesn't quite fit what you'd see from something that far away
Well I tried my hand at a portrait with reference for the first time, how's it looking?

Eh, the main purpose of the photo was the ship, but yeah, the background does look a little, meh....
threw down some logos for class, let me know what you think.

hahahahahahaha now it's like a visual pun because a hive is a host for bees and etcetc goshdarn. Someone should start an actual hosting company with this name.

The company that I got an internship for is called Rainbow Loom, which is the company that made the kits for making those rubber band bracelets and trinkets.
I created this and put it in my portfolio before showing them and I think they liked it.

Looking at their site and packaging though, it looks like I have a lot to catch up to speed with. I am not ready for this.

Not my first sprite and still lacks some details, but since I only make small arms anyway, some tips on the shading process would be welcome.
Based on a simplified Flak 18 (Link), and the soldier reference is from the game I'm modding (Cortex Command)

Getting back into game maker, forgot how enjoyable drawing random, aimless sprites was.

the shapes are nice, but they could do without the outlines or gradients. for logos you might want to make sure that they're still readable and recognizable even when scaled down.

These are good! Make sure you keep value in mind, especially when making logos. A good logo should also keep all of its meaning when converted to black and white as well.
A good way to practice this is to convert your image to grayscale while working on it to check if it's still going in the right direction. It's a bit like the technique of holding your work in front of a mirror or rotating it; it lets you see it in a different way.
Alternatively, you can work entirely in grayscale, and add the color later. This is a bit cleaner and can be easier for some people. Hope this helps!
Going to create a "journal" written in first person by the character of my podcast.
Its going to be about all the creatures. Trying to think of a name. Opinions?
Collection of creatures
Convocation of Creatures
Compendium of Creatures
It's going to contain sketches and titles and descriptions of the animals. Which title do you like best?
Hey guys I'm currently producing a project in Unreal 4 with me and 2 other people. We wanted it to be a bit like an in game cinematic. Our biggest caveat at the moment is our story. We have a minute to a minute thirty to explain our story.
A quick run down: It takes places in about 10-20 years, in a city that vaguely resembles Barcelona, so the architecture is still fairly current day.
It starts off with a sports announcement, detailing a race that happens every year within the city, it's a no holds barred type of deal - first to the centre of the city wins.
After the announcement it then cuts to first person and you're viewing it on a TV. You're in a street and the TV is in a shop window. The character then turns away from the shop and begins walking down the street. After a few seconds two racers enter the scene, you watch one of them race through the street and turn back to see another racer on a fairly beaten up bike - she's knocking over objects in the scene and generally being quite reckless. As she drives past time slows down and she pushes off a large square device. It tumbles down the street before clamping into place. After a few seconds a portal opens and begins to suck everything into it (including the character).
After entering it, the screen goes black before opening up into space with objects and stuff floating with you. It then ends.
Please, tear this to shreds - at the moment we feel like nothing really clicks and connects other than the race, the portal feels like it comes from nowhere and isn't really explained in any great detail - it just shows up. We're looking for something that really ties it all together without dismantling the entire scene.

This might sound dumb but have you:
A) Found a scene of similar intent that you liked as a team and [del]stolen[/del] taken loving inspiration from it?
B) Done a storyboard/animatic of the intro?
C) Put down some scratch vo (if necessary) and worked out a rhythm of the intro as set by music/a beat?
My instructor's have been pretty big on it and I can see why: having it in front of you will generally help way more than having it in words or having others critique the concept. If you haven't bumped into storyboarding yet: look into it.
Sorry if any of this comes across wrong, I wish you and your team the best!

Probably should've put it up but yeah we have. It's fairly roughly put together so it's not entirely cohesive but you can take a stab at it:

Dota 2 sketch to color. I need to get a bit better with lines, especially with hair. I'll probably practice that next time.

As far as I'm concerned with simple cartoon respresentations, blacksmith = black apron and baker = white apron :v:
[editline]edit[/editline]
Also the belt is more blacksmith than baker. I don't really see much of a baker in there.
If the over-shirt-thing was white and didn't have a belt, it could be a baker
But that's definitely a blacksmith or lumberjack or something.
I'd be tempted to give him more metal bits (esp. on his boots) to help prop that up
He's a baker that flunked out of black-smith college.
He uses a furnace to make all his bread :V

I was planning to keep him simple but I've put in more detail than I intended. The legs in the front view look really odd now. I'm gonna do a detail pass and I'll definitely add in some metal bits on his boots. Should I keep it like one big piece or should I draw an actual boot to go on top?

Also, this is a concept for a 3D animation, if that adds context to anything. Got to present my concepts and storyboard on Thursday. Late nights incoming.
