It's every new producer producing mainstream dubstep for mainstream audiences who think that mainstream dubstep is "underground and unheard of". That is annoying, and so the new people to dubstep act like they have known it for years when people who have listened to dubstep since it began, and as much as I like Skrillex, he is one of those artists of whom new dubstep listeners have gone to.
It's the people who haven't bothered to look at Dubstep's roots and the early stuff, they're sucked in by this Brostep craze.
I only hate skrillex because his fans are to him as bieber fans are but even so, they are good for the way they do their own shit but seriously, girls with plugs at my school shaved the side of their head like his and its annoying especially if the girl is or was decent looking. It also annoys me when people see him as the ideal dubstep.
you cant compare comics to music you fucking idiot
I draw comics and produce music and I am pretty sure I do both of those things better than you so yeah I can I think
However disappointing his music is (in which some cases I agree with you lot) he's actually a REALLY nice guy! You should watch an interview, unlike other musicians, he's not full of himself and answers questions with full and honest answers. [editline]3rd June 2011[/editline]
I draw comics and produce music and I am pretty sure I do both of those things better than you so yeah I can I think
ban him for racism
Gotta love his hair. Is it me or deadmau5' dubstep tracks sounds just like Skrillex's.
Nah.
I don't care if he's mainstream and emo, he brings something refreshing to the genre. The dubstep genre has always been pretty meh, there are a couple of good producers but not that many really talented ones imo (atleast with all the brostep). That's why I have always prefered Drum & Bass because there we have a fuckton of really talented and creative producers.
SKRILLEX IS FUCKING BROSTEP! He's NOTHING SPECIAL at all.
I draw comics and produce music and I am pretty sure I do both of those things better than you so yeah I can I think
like i give a fuck.
He's got a few decent songs but most of them are pretty bad
like i give a fuck.
Aren't you like 14 years old
Aren't you like 14 years old
Well duhh, he's acting like he doesn't give a fuck when he obviously does..

A lot of the really good dnb producers have been at it since before dubstep even existed, so they've had way longer to hone their skills. It seems like the majority of the really really good dubstep producers got their start in other genres.
If you've seen interview videos with Skrillex he's actually a nice person, but he's also a chain smoker. His music is good, but there are better dubstep songs out there. Everyone I know loves SM&NS (the song) at the very least.
Indeed, that is probably also why DnB is such a varied genre. The same will probably happen to dubstep as time flies.
Indeed, that is probably also why DnB is such a varied genre. The same will probably happen to dubstep as time flies.
Dubstep already has a pretty huge range of different sound
Just trying to say that it will evolve a lot more, just like dnb did.
I think it is quite amusing that you act as if smoking affects somebody's kindness.
You're pointing out something that I wasn't implying. I was making a statement that in every interview video I've seen of Skrillex, he's been smoking a cigarette and I thing it's disgusting. I didn't see anywhere in my post where I'm like "smokers aren't nice people."
you cant compare comics to music you fucking idiot [editline]1st June 2011[/editline] and yes it does suck
You know, there are some things that even I didn't do on the forums, and that's openly attack mods and ex mods for no valid reason. May I just say you're a douchebag and at some point in your future you shall be visited by a mod in the night and they will dip their cock in your eye. If you think smoking is bad then don't smoke, but there's no need to be all "yeah he seems nice but guess what you guys HE SMOKES," people are going to react the same as to a super Christian guy complaining that someone doesn't mention Jesus in all his interview.
Everything Pre Scary monsters and nice sprites excluding remixes = good Everything post Scary monsters and nice sprites + remixes = shit that's how I see it.
Hipster to the max.
he doesn't think it's disgusting, he things it
Hipster to the max.
I don't think you understand hipsterism.
Honestly, what is so disgusting about the act of smoking? I never understood why people always use that term to describe it. Even if you're talking about all the crap in the smoke that coats a smoker's lung, you can't really be revolted by it. Do you actually see the insides of their lungs being coated in tar? Do you see the tar in the smoke they exhale? No. Is it disgusting when someone exhales in extremely cold air, and you can see their breath? No. I'm sorry that I enjoy doing something that you don't, but don't feel superior and act like a jackass because of it, you're no better than me. /rant I think most of the problem people have is that they assume all music should be rated and judged in the same way. That's not necessarily true. You can have lower quality music that doesn't try and be the most technically complex and virtuous piece ever made. It's just made to sound cool or have a danceable beat. Don't get in a tizzy because it's not exactly what you think it should be. EDIT: spelling

I stated that IN EVERY INTERVIEW VIDEO I HAVE WATCHED, he has been smoking a cigarette. It had nothing to do with the fact that I placed "he smokes" next to "he's actually a very nice person." That was not my intent at all, and while that may not have been explained clearly, I just felt like it was an interesting fact about Skrillex that I have noticed in the interviews I have watched. For the record, I don't find smoking disgusting. Perhaps it was the wrong word, but both of my parents smoke and my friends smoke and I have never said a word about it to them. What I hate about smoking is those highschoolers who did it do be "cool." You know the ones I'm talking about. That's disgusting right there. When has ANYBODY said ANYTHING remotely close to "non-smokers are superior to smokers and anyone who smokes should feel inferior"? At least you're correct here:
I think most of the problem people have is that they assume all music should be rated and judged in the same way. That's not necessarily true. I mean there's a threshold between when lack of talent in music sounds terrible and when talent begins to make it sound good, but I don't think talent is related to how enjoyable music is. I enjoy, say, deadmau5 and Pink Floyd all the same. I enjoy Pink Floyd for their talent and overall difference from music, and while their music is still easy on the ears and enjoyable, deadmau5 has released some good tracks that, although repetitive, have had a similar enjoyable effect on me. It's music, it's not a talent show.
Everything Pre Scary monsters and nice sprites excluding remixes = good Everything post Scary monsters and nice sprites + remixes = shit that's how I see it.
I think his first EP was shit.
You're missing the point yet again.
why are you having a heated discussion about smoking in a fucking skrillex thread
I really like him. With Your Friends (Long Drive) is probably my favorite song of his, but I actually like the whole Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites EP. Looking forward to More Monsters and Nice Sprites on Tuesday.
I think his first EP was shit.
I agree, the only song I liked was My Name Is Skrillex.
