I already do that, and I'm not an idiot.
You've discovered the secret of smartness!
Stop living in the mainstream so much, dig deep for something good and you'll be surprised if you find something good.
I agree, so much shite nowadays.
The internet is a big help in "dumbing us down". There is so much information out there and so many different kinds of informations about the same subject that says totally different things. People easily believe that one source is enough and learns the wrong thing about it.
But generally I believe we are just as smart, if not smarter as any previous generation. The thing is that now that we have the media and internet we're suddenly supposed to know EVERYTHING. And we get to hear about every single idiot out there because of the media. We hear about a lot of crime, idiots, problems, hunger, suffering, rape, everything.
But people start thinking we're WORSE than any previous generation living before. But if anything we're BETTER. We have less rape, less crime and everything. The thing is just that there were no surveys, no statistics or anything back then. We don't KNOW how many people got abused, starved, we're poor and all that in the old days. We only know about today. And then we start comparing nowadays statistics with old days statistics, but it doesn't work because there were a lot less people doing statistics before, there were fewer that participated and all that.
It's like comparing the temperature changes between the ocean and a lake.
Also, if anything. People would easilier believe shit before when there was less, or no media. They couldn't look up what was being said because he was the one with the information and the only records were at his lab. So he could easily lie up into their faces and they would suck it up because, he is a scientist after all, he knows what he is saying. Today you would look it up on the net.
I'm so happy there are still some decent radio channels airing good music every now and then. There is this Danish one who plays old rock from the 50-90's using a very good selection. It's just nice to hear there are still someone who dares to play music from the past.
Here in Norway we hear absolutely nothing but shit from the past.
Goddamn am I fed up with the "Back to the 80's" bullshit. They started doing that around 1994, if not before.
We do nothing but go back, back, back and back again. We even have a channel devoted to music from the past 40 years. (60's to 90's)
People suck at finding good stuff from current artist and just stick to old classics everyone has heard of that they think no one has heard of "because it's just mainstream on the radio".
"Man, you should totally check out Pink Floyd, Metallica and The Beatles. That's some good shit man".
Maybe people should consider changing which station they listen to?
