Yes it is. Pretty much every series is usually 12/13 or 24/26 episodes long. There are only a couple of (incredibly shitty) shows that go in the hundreds (naruto/bleach/one piece etc). Except Legend of the Galactic Heroes, that one is long as fuck but it's one of the greatest series ever created.
And InuYasha, pretty long but really really really good.
I dislike anime most of the time, but i liked this one. I remember staying up until really late as a kid just so i could watch it.

Take out all the filler and side plots and you could compress Bleach into about 100 episodes. Same for DBZ.
I used to watch this show and it was my favorite, I am pretty sure I have seen every episode but what is Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood?
Ew.
Why do people hate dubs so much? I know a lot of dubs suck, but for bigger shows like Code Geass, Death Note, Soul Eater, Full Metal Alchemist, and a lot more, the dubs are well-done.
God damn it I wish Hugh didn't die.
He's Hughes, and it's his last name.
And sp tags exist for a reason
I usually absolutely hate anime, but I loved the show.
I'm going to be honest with you, I watched Brotherhood. While it follows the plot of the manga, it is not as deep of a story and much more rushed, less focus on the dark themes and full of much more corny humour. If you loved the manga, watch Brotherhood. If you love amazing action scenes, watch Brotherhood. If you want a story with more indepth characters, with more deviation and twist, watch the 2003 series. Personally, I preferred the first series, due to its stray from the manga (which I honestly didn't really enjoy) and less focus on humour and more on the dark side. It also had pacing which was slower, which I prefer.
Am i the only one who liked the orginal over Brotherhood? They were both great, and i didn't read the manga. Also it's been a while since i watched the original.
But i loved the originals explanation of what's passed the gate, and the ending was more touching.
But yes brotherhood was amazing as well

Yes, you probably are

was awesome

I couldn't understand it as much. Apparently the gate was a portal to a alternate dimension where alchemy didn't exist. Where as in Brotherhood the gate was all knowledge of alchemy leading up the the pinnacle which was successful human transmutation but you couldn't attain that power without a huge sacrifice.
As far as the ending, the first one was kind of depressing. Brotherhood was much happier atleast.
I saw the original and movie way long ago when I was 13 and never heard of this new stuff. It was ok I guess but I really only liked the interesting twist at the end.
I personally did not like Brotherhood, yes I know it's closely related to the manga unlike the first series, but there were too many characters that joined the cast that I didn't find interesting and I didn't like the storyline direction. The first series had me hooked from the beginning though, the movie and the original anime is up there with Cowboy Bebop for me.
I disliked the first series because it just started to fall apart towards the end. It also didn't explain things to well. As far as it being on par with Cowboy Bebop, I disagree, CB is in an entire league of its own.
I haven't watched any anime for a while and I've never actually seen this. I'll try the 2009 series. Should be a good time waster while I find something to do during the summer holidays.
Oh, and everyone who is saying that you usually hate anime but like this, you've been watching the wrong shows. There are plenty of series which don't rely on 'moe' and cuteness to entertain their viewers. There are many with deep and intelligent narratives, great characterisation, tone and atmosphere. Some example that come to mind are Mushishi, Welcome to the NHK, Kino's Journey, perhaps Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (which does use moe, but to create juxtaposition against it's extreme violence), and Cowboy Bebop. Also, if you want to be depressed beyond belief, watch the Studio Ghibli film 'Grave of the Fireflies', which I'd without a doubt list among the best war films I've ever seen.

That's funny because the only reason I enjoyed Cowboy Bepop was because of its soundtrack.
I just found the FMA: Brotherhood YouTube channel, where you can watch full episodes of Brotherhood for free. It also seems legal, since the channel isn't deleted yet

I watched about 3 episodes of this and enjoyed it, where can I watch it online?
Brotherhood is much better than the first series, IMO.

Good job reading the thread
I've watched a few episodes of this from the start, and some in the middle, since my little brother's a big fan, he has disc 5 and 8 on dvd. Pretty damn good, I plan on watching the rest.
Also Colonol Armstrong is goddamn awesome :v:
He got dubbed instead of subbed though, but at least they're done well.

Major Armstrong.
Gosh, I'll never get over what my anime buff for a friend said about this show, whenever I talk about anime (Mainly discussing the Studio Ghibili Movies) He'd Go on talking how good this show was.
Also for some reason he says that if i where to watch the full show (and not some episodes On TV randomly) I shouldn't watch the 2003 one unless i want to fully understand the story.

Well they're both different stories, so it doesn't matter which one you watch first. The 2003 series follows the Manga untill episode 25 where it goes in a completely different direction with different characters and even changes the plot. It's still enoyable though.
[sp]So is there a WWI world in Brotherhood?[/sp]
