The first paragraph makes me believe you are retarded.
My mum was unhappy with me playing Bioshock <_<
A survey that I conducted showed that people who played violent video games tend to be less violent than those who don't.
Oh, you're oozing with credibility.
But, I agree with some of your points. Not letting a child play video games is basically outcasting them to a certain degree. It's also very important to discuss the bad parts of video games. Virtual things are as corrupting to children as real things if you don't discuss them properly and why they're wrong.
Guide is not 100% accurate.
It's better than giving your kids GTA at the age of 10 though.
I played Vice City when I was 10 :smug:

Although I've turned out okay.
I played Vice City when I was 10 :smug:
So you played Vice City for the first time today, big deal.

You should restrict how much violent media a kid takes in at a young age, however.
A-fucking-men, I'm tired of the hypocrite parents thinking that violence in video games causes a kid to go out on a killing spree with a rocket launcher... And the poor kid is forced to play the newest bible adventures, which in my opinion is more likely to make a serial killer out of a kid.
The agression they display in games is them getting all of their anger out on virtual people or real people playing as virtual avatars.
This is false. Studies have shown that this just reinforces violent behaviour. I would show you the link, but the only one I found doesn't work any more.
itt: a 15 year old writes an opinionated guide for parents with no evidence to back up his claims

Opinion doesn't matter. Violent media increases aggression. Not enough to make a serial killer, but it can increase violent behavior.

Also, when you're 10 you shouldn't be playing stuff like Vice City, you should be trading Pokemon cards and climbing trees with your friends and all that good shit.

So can sports, tv, and playboy.
Your point?

Id say playboy eases aggression. :3:
Stick Gears of War into the hands of a teenager and you are set to go.
Also, the truth is that violent video games increase aggression.

would you stop that? you're ONE person. you DO NOT account for EVERYONE.
stop saying "oh that never applied to me therefore it couldn't possibly apply to anyone else!"

is that your rebuttal?

Will a picture of Austin Powers do to?
The reason why kids who do school shootings almost always have violent video games in their house is because those kinds of games have become a very normal thing to have.
It's like saying rape is caused by toothpaste since it's found in most rapist's homes.
Blaming a common household item on a crime is completely idiotic.
And even if there is a relation, it's still stupid to waste time on banning it when the real culprit is bullying (IRL bullying), and the kid not getting the help he/she needs.
Under 17 and only when those games have Multiplayer capabilties.
my friend's policy: "no drop, no talk".

Stop everything! This guy played violent games, and he isn't violent, that disproves all the science and research, everyone go home now.

They shouldn't be banned. They should be controlled. It shouldn't be easy for a 12 year old to go in to some game store and get some horribly violent game. If the parents want them playing the game, then fine, but a kid shouldn't be able to get their hands on a game like Dante's Inferno(that game should really be 18+ with the amount of violence and the story itself) without parental permission.
So can sports, tv, and playboy.
Your point?
I think it's hypocritical that people want to ban certain games for being violent but you can see just as much violence on basic cable. I think that the media kids are able to see should be as easily controllable(by parents) as possible. They also, however, shouldn't restrict the freedom of expression of game designers, directors, and shit like that as much as they do.
My mom bought my little brother a few spiderman games for the Xbox (was at age 4-5 at the time, now he's 6). All he does now when he's angry is kick and punch people. Then at school he and his friend climbed a basketball hoop at school (hmm...I wonder why....). I'm guessing don't give violent games to kids 7 and below or they will attack. They are E 10+ rated games anyway...and one T rated game...
Anyway, I just let out anger by building death shit in GMod.
I've been playing M-rated games since I was 6 and I am a pacifist. So yeah, it works.
So can sports, tv, and playboy.

Don't let them play violent sports, watch violent tv, or give your kids playboys.
That's a load of bullshit, i played the GTA series since i was 5, never in my life had i hurt someone badly.
You aren't a reliable source of information since you are talking about your own behavior and you probably don't have an object view of yourself. I've noticed myself and others who tend to get more aggressive after playing video games.
don't let your kid play WoW
no. 1 tip
It should be illegal for anyone under 18 to buy, own, or play a rated M game.
Are you stupid? The rating is there for a reason, which is to get you to not buy some brutal, drug filled game for your seven year old, just like movie ratings are. And to make it illegal to own is just retarded.
Oh, and for the record, M means 17, not 18.
don't let your kid play WoW

There is nothing wrong with WoW in moderation. Just because a few retards play it 24/7 doesn't make it a bad game.
I agree to everything the guy says. I hate it when parents call video games are evil and shit just because their children acts violent after playing it. It's not the game's fault, it's your child's fault for not being able to separate fantasy from reality. I played the GTA series from when I was 10 and I didn't do any stupid shit like running over civilians in real life.
