I fucking hate the trend lately on making logo's and company names be all "modernized" with boring and dull basic sans-serif fonts with nothing else. Sci-fi's old logo was so much better, so much more creative, etc. All these companies are jumping on the "post modern font/logo" bandwagon and it just looks like boring ass, or doesn't fit at all for the subject matter. I mean jesus that new Prince of Persia movie poster is a perfect example. They fucking used a modern font like Helvetica (which looks like Arial) for the poster title of the movie. Really?? The Prince of PERSIA is now to be associated with the post-modern "hyper minimalism" trend? [/typography rant]

It was good, I guess. Creepy definately. And they don't make it sound really fake like Ghost Hunters. I think these guys are legit.

The name "SciFi" implies Science Fiction," and the Corrupt Execs at the top decided to ditch it in favor of the dumbed-down "SyFy" that would fit the dumbed-down shows and the "Cool People" that the Execs would very much like to watch their channel. I saw this on TV, and I was interested, and then all of the sudden people were putting cameras to their faces and shouting ghost ghost and so I said well fuck that.

I think they changed the name to SyFy because they wanted to be able to do other things than just strictly Sci-Fi shows, but still wanted to have their name. I don't think it helped.

That isn't postmodernism at all =/ it's just modernism round two. I don't know what Helvetica looking like Arial even has to do with anything, but the latter is certainly drawn from the former probably so Microsoft could avoid paying royalties. Ghost Hunters is good, but I think Destination Truth is fake. So much for "Truth" in the name. But who cares, it's entertaining, that's what tv is all about. Most Haunted is most defiantly fake.
