If you're complaining about AK'z being a music snob, stop whining. Seriously, how does it affect you in any way?
I'm dropping this battle because I'm nice like that
I for one think AK'z is great.

The Akayz Challenge of Enjoying Genres!
Yeah but it's not really a challenge. Anyone can click on a link and listen to Drone if they wanted.
I wanted to rename it to "Music: Light vs. Rough Hearted" but it didn't work :smith:

Okay, added some Slint.
add some atonal music
That's like Brain-Wave things that are essentially used for healing rather than composing or art.

special time for Slint :D
I don't really see why everyone has to get so pissy about this, it's quite fun anyway.
I'm surprised some didn't say "I can't take that Dream Pop, too light-hearted for me"
which I see as ignorance rather than open-mindedness.
I still don't get how people agree with that. :smugdog:

Post-Rock with Classical tones
Post-Rock with Classical tones
Did you listen to the link or did you just go straight to their Wikipedia/Last.fm page lol
This definitely isn't either of them, this particular one

Very unprofessional, AK'z

Ignoring how one actually feels about the music in order to comply with the current norm, ie accepting and liking all music ever

Something ambient
No it isn't. Liking different styles isn't liking all music ever.

I thought it was something in terms of experimental ambient. But it turns out they're a post-rock band :smugdog:
I can cheat too you know.
It's a one man project but okay.
Out of the albums I listened to only one of them was post-rock. The others were more heavily classical themed and then one more electronically themed. The one the track I posted is kind of mixing it all a bit more I think.
But yeah people tend to listen to the music when I ask them about genres >:
Also, for me, I just listen to stuff I think sounds weird. You can stay around the familiar for a while but it's good to get out once and a while. I just like being out most of the time, listening to strange shit. Doesn't mean I enjoy the music, but I enjoy the variety regardless. And then every now and then sometime really catchy comes up. But yeah. I don't enjoy everything, but I try listening to it a lot to try and 'get' it.

For me it's all about discovering something new and interesting.
I'm not someone who listens to different stuff for the sake of it.
Listened to all of Light Heartened (or at least enough of a song to give a fair opinion of each)
Was going to post impressions here, but don't want to stretch the page heaps, so I posted it at http://pastebin.com/BUfZbWs8
TLDR: Contemporary Folk is a bit boring IMHO, didn't really like Country, Turntablism, Shoegaze or Alt Rock.
Great playlist though. :3:

Fair enough
Pop Rock: It's Beatles. WOOO!. :buddy:
R&B: Not my type of music
Indie Rock: Pretty good.
Country: Good, but not my taste.
Cool Jazz: Relaxing. I like it :buddy:
Contemporary Folk: A bit boring in my opinion.
Post-Dubstep: Cool.
Piano Rock: I've never really listened to Elton John that much. Should check him out some more.
Blues Rock: Had a cool sound to it.
Soul: Good.
Funk: Its alright.
Alternative Rock: Didn't really like it.
Synthpop: Pretty good. I like 1980s synthpop more though. :v:
Turntablism: Didn't like it.
New Wave: Liked it.
Trip Hop: Interesting.
Downtempo/Ambient/Techno: I liked it.
Classical/Chamber: Pretty good.
Shoegaze/Dream Pop: Didn't like it.
Post Rock: Liked it.
[editline]5th June 2011[/editline]
Punk Rock: Good.
Avant-Garde Jazz: Good, but I was expecting weirder stuff for something that says Avant-Garde
Psychedelic Rock: I feel bad for not listening to The Doors that much, since it was really good.
Maths Rock: Cool.
Thrash Metal: *headbangs*
Noise Rock: I like.
Abstract Hip Hop: Interesting.
Stoner Rock: Something about it I didn't really like.
Post Hardcore/Hardcore Punk: Liked.
Breakcore: Wasn't expecting to like it (not a fan of most genres that end with -core.) Interesting.
Experimental Hip Hop: Really good. I admire your ability to find hip hop I like. :3:
IDM: I had no idea what IDM was. Didn't really like it.
Gothic Metal: Pretty cool.
Death Metal: Okayish. I find Death Metal vocals unintentionally funny for some reason. :v:
Hardcore Hip Hop: That was really cool.
Experimental Rock: Pretty good.
Grindcore: Didn't like.
Black Metal: That song was weird. It was okay but a bit repetitive.
Microsound: No.
Freak Folk: This was one of the songs I liked most from the challenge. Really unique compared to anything I've heard before.
Drone: Didn't like. It was just boring IMO.
Noise Music: This was one of my least favorite songs.
I feel compelled to do the same list but with different areas from within the genre.
Dunno if it will work though.
I find Death Metal vocals unintentionally funny for some reason. :v:
This so much.
Added these:Ambient/Electronic, Microtonal, Jazz Rock, Delta Blues and Musique Concrète.
There is now a level 7 in the first section.
Okay seriously who the HELL is horsedowner and why does he rate me the weirdest things
Okay seriously who the HELL is horsedowner and why does he rate me the weirdest things
Did you like any of the styles you weren't familiar with in the OP?
Challenge accepted, Akayz. I'm on the second song of the first section's level one. Gonna listen to them all, and I'm sure I'll at least moderately enjoy all of them.

I've made section one slightly difficult than before so you're a bit unlucky I guess :3:

No I have no idea who he is or why he's rating me friendly and optimistic and funny
why he's rating me friendly and optimistic and funny
Those are good ratings. :smugdog:
Did you like any of the styles you weren't familiar with in the OP?
I can't say I am unfamiliar with musique concrete, but it reminded me that I should listen to more of it.
Other than that, no not really
Freak Folk was interesting I guess but not really my cup of tea
Those are good ratings. :smugdog:
I suppose but totally out of context :v:
add some atonal music
Noise is atonal, and microtonal isn't tonal as we are used to it
I don't like those
I think i'll stick to miley cyrus

My interest with music is kind of holted with Teen Pop. Sorry. :smith:
The friendly was because of the "I will listen to the music I love, the music that makes me feel good. If that is what you like though, no problem." part.
The optimistic was... I don't remember.
The funny was because you said you were being nice even though came off a bit like a jerk in an earlier post.
And I am horsedrowner. :v:
