mitt romney: *forced smiling and rapid blinking*
"I am not going to lower taxes" not even 5 minutes later: "I am going to lower the tax rates" Romney has gone from flip-flopping to whip-flopping.
Everybody on my twitter timeline are giving their ridiculous and uneducated opinions on how much better Romney is as opposed to Obama. I mean holy fuck, I would understand if they actually had reasons for the shit they are saying, but they literally don't. They aren't saying stuff like "Romney, as a conservative, can generally be expected to maintain current laws on the subject of gun control, whilst Obama, with a more liberal point of view, could be expected to tighten laws and regulations regarding gun control" or anything even remotely within the realm of possibility, they're saying shit like "voting for Obama is like backing up the titanic and hitting the iceburg a second time" This idiocy is making me want to tear my hair out. It is really rage inducing.
Romney seems to be pretty rude.
I'm in a fight with a kid on face book again does any one know where to find quotes from the debate? [editline]3rd October 2012[/editline] romney should release a brand of flip-flops they flip-flop the best
holy fuck, I've been watching this for class and I can't understand a single thing except the fact that Romney really rude. [editline]3rd October 2012[/editline] and romney hates america

Anyone else noticing how pissed Obama gets when the moderator interrupts him?
They're both assholes to Tim Lehrer..
Who do you all think did best on that debate? Optimistic = Obama Funny = Romney Agree = Clint Eastwood
While I do think both sides had great points, it will be interesting to see what the polls say in the days after this debate. "if this moves the polls, everything changes."
Romney will gain from this debate, I believe. I certainly hope not.
I honestly believe romney won the debate, but I hope he doesn't win the election. I think Obama should've been more aggressive in this.
Damn, why do you guys always post stuff I half agree with. Agree or Disagree. Ehhhhh...optimistic.
I'm legitimately confused how Romney could be seen as winning that. He contradicted himself, got called out on it multiple times by Obama, was rude to the moderator. Like if it's just that the people who are already decided are the ones who are saying who won or not I can understand that.
They both contradicted themselves, frankly, they were both rude to the moderator (who let himself get walked over). As far as facts and consistency, they were both on even grounds. However, Romney won because he was actually energetic. He was motivated, he was fiery, he was, to be honest, a much better speaker. And how someone presents their argument directly affects how the audience receives them.
Look at the media [editline]3rd October 2012[/editline] And look at the Polls. We saw Obama winning because we agree wiht him, or at least 75% of us do. It is what the media says that tells the population who won.
Jill Stein / OBAMA
I cannot believe that everyone is saying Romney won that debate. I think it was closer than reporters are saying, but it really exposed a character flaw in Romney. He came out looking arrogant in an attempt to simply attack Obama on most points. I swear, a lot of what people in the US are picking up on is Romney's attacks against Obama rather than Romney's own plan for what he can offer to the U.S. I personally liked Obama's set piece because he gave credit to Romney for his good points, but also provided information about what he wanted to put into place and what made him the better candidate within the topics/time provided. Not to mention, I liked how he delivered it with a calm demeanor compared to Romney's "energetic" or "motivated" or "fiery" speech, which I felt was more of him rushing under pressure because Obama's ideas were hitting him right in the jugular. I also did not like how Romney undervalued the host at every turn because he thought he knew better than him; That was arrogance at its finest. Although the entire news media and a lot of people are going to disagree (probably for their own personally correct notions), I think Obama came out on top last night based purely on his demeanor, not taking into account what either candidate said yet.
Obama says "I am going to create new jobs through energy, education, cutting the deficit, cutting taxes..." Romney says "I am going to create new jobs through energy, education, cutting the deficit, cutting taxes..."
Romney last night was the Romney of the last four years. If this was new to you, or you felt he was lying to you, then you've been listening far to much to the media's portrayal of Romney and not doing your homework. The biggest takeaways for me from this debate 1. As a small business owner it couldn't be any more clear which candidate understood my struggles. Romney gets it. He understands business. Obama is on some kind of island with absolutely no idea what his own proposals state. Romney actually pointed out laws Obama passed that he agreed with and Obama looked confused as if he didn't even know what Mitt was talking about. 2. Bipartisanship. Its fun to mock the other side. I can't argue with that. But the reality is that nothing will get done unless both sides agree to compromise. Romney addressed this beautifully with his record in Massachusetts and comparing that to Obama's record as president. That bit killed Obama with moderates. 3. Energy policy. I felt when Obama began ranting on 5 different topics at once he really started to lose his focus. The one important topic here was energy policy.. and Mitt creamed him here again. Not too many people are familiar with the clean-energy scandals that have occurred during Obama's administration. Its good to get the word out about this, and compare it to the Obama talking points on tax breaks for oil companies. Its quite a contrast. 4. States rights. THANK GOD someone on the federal stage finally made this point. We have states who are willing to handle tasks such as education, healthcare, entitlements. There is absolutely no reason for the federal government to have so much power and offer the people so little choice. The 10th amendment is there for a reason. In the end we are all wrong about things. No one is perfect. A lot of people were wrong about Obama. Its quite alright to admit it. Its not ok to blame the moderator or claim Romney lied when your not even sure what he lied about. Romney did what he does. The media has been lying to us and their meme was thoroughly exposed last night.

Social issues is where the two candidates will differ starkly.

They should hire Joe Biden for a toothpaste commercial. That smile whenever Paul Ryan says something contradictory.
This could decide the public perception at the polls: Obama's 21 million Twitter followers. https://twitter.com/BarackObama Romney's 1.4 million Twitter followers. https://twitter.com/MittRomney Obama's 31 million likes on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/barackobama Romney's 10 million likes on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/mittromney Clicking Like and Follow is similar to pushing Vote at the polls.

Plus the ratios are all off anyways. 21/1.4 = 15 Obama followers for every Romney follower vs 31/10 = 3.1 Obama likes for every Romney like Obama is 5 times more popular compared to Romney on Twitter than he is on facebook. If these were truly indicative of anything scientifically, the ratios would be a lot closer to each other. So no, this doesn't mean shit really, except that Obama is better at social media.
I voted in the early elections in Georgia and I voted my conscience, so I feel good about myself.
And Obama has already been president for 4 years, so it would make sense that he has more followers being the POTUS and all
I like how Romney is a failure of all his fathers campaigning policies and statements.
I like how Romney has run, from an organizational standpoint, the worst campaign ever. He is only doing ok against Obama because the economy did not recover fast enough for the liking of the people.
