-It's the kind of look I'd want for myself if I could change my appearance.
The only reason. On a serious note - Don't be scared of learning something that you can't draw for shit. I can't draw humans at all, but I'm learning and making progress. You will never become a real artist if you only draw things that you can.
Like Mortal K0mbat said, you've drawn the same goddamn face four times. Faces variate more between fucking twins for christsake, You need to fucking study character design. Seriously, you are headed down a road that leads into a fucking slaughterhouse, you need to learn this shit. What are you, twenty? And you don't know how to plot shadows, or draw a realistically proportioned face, or draw a realistic human figure, and you don't know the first thing about concept design. You haven't seriously worked with color at all, you can't paint digitally, you can't shade or use any tools other than pencils, seriously man, this is fucking scary shit. What are you going to do when you walk into a job interview, distract your employer with episodes of Witchblade in the hopes that they don't notice that you don't have even the slightest fucking clue as to what you're doing? Look man, I like you, you're not an asshole. You're relatively honest, even if you're a creepy motherfucker who I wouldn't let within a mile of my kids(if I had kids). Don't do this shit to yourself, it's painful to watch. It's like watching someone set up a guillotine around their dick. And Gordon Freeman is a gaunt, spindly, ghostly scientist bloke. And you never even see his face in game. You can't reject character designs on the grounds that you wouldn't fuck them, people are fucking UGLY. It's ugliness that makes beauty look beautiful, the way you have it set up now your "world" looks like a fucking gay elf LOTR fanfiction. Of course all of this comes back to the fact that you don't know how to draw the human head anyway. Seriously, you're killing me here. EDIT: See my avatar? That's H. R. Giger, Maybe you've heard of him. He's a creepy old fuck who draws giant mechanical penises fucking giant steel vaginas. He is no doubt an ugly motherfucker. But you know what? His face has emotion. It says something. So it doesn't matter that he's ugly, because he's got emotion. That's what matters. It doesn't matter if you look like a gay elf who could fuck any woman or man alive on the earth, if the design lacks emotion then no one will give a fuck but squealing fangirls who look like beached whales.
Superb reply, sir.
Another thing to keep in mind is, this is cartooning. Everything should look more exaggerated than reality, so certain features could be bigger than they are usually, or maybe youcould just disregard facial structure all together. Here, look at the range you have working with photo realistic faces. Look at that thick, black hair. Look at that waxy brown skin with those pale, round eyes. Look at those pronounced cheeks, those slit like eyes, that slender, skeletal neck. Look at that giant, matted beard. Look at those amazing eyes, like empty wells. The wrinkles that show weariness yet don't show age. Now look at this, this is an interesting face. See how it's dominated by it's wrinkles, how they combine with her facial structure to make that almost unique smile. She has a face you can recognize, that stands out among most others. Now that's all photo realistic stuff. That's what you can do with reality. Now, since this is a drawing, you can do anything you want. Each of these faces, drawn as a cartoon, should be ten times whatever they are now. Ten times as dour, ten times as happy, ten times as threatening. You should be able to read a character's personality in their face. When you think about this stuff, it's mind boggling what you can do with it. Why do you limit yourself to this sexual shit? There's a whole range of emotions beyond gay elf, I do wish you'd explore it. That's it for tonight, I've got shit to do tomorrow.

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT crazy old fuck
That's pretty creative actually.
I agree, disturbing and creepy but at the same time cool and well "textured".
Sexual imagery is effective. Since it's such a taboo, it's associated with strong emotions and brings forth powerful reactions from the audience. Which is why I think the choice to sexualize the monster in Alien was a stroke of fucking genius. What better thing to use as a symbol of fear and disgust than the thing that we don't even dare speak of in public? And it's not surprising that he draws creepy sex shit. Sex, being a taboo, is a touchy subject. Just think of it like this, if you're a visual person, being that your life revolves around images as a painter's does, and thoughts of sex disgust you due to one reason or another(most likely culture), but you have a certain obsession with it, what's going to happen is when you paint sex you're also going to paint your disgust with sex, and make it cold and intimidating. It's an interesting phenomenon when you think about it. Society's hostile attitude towards sex leads it to being slightly less prevalent, but more often horribly twisted. Of course, this goes back to where good art comes from, and that's form your emotions. Now, the point to all of this(and there is one), is that you, Ryu-gi, are fucking insanely obsessed with sex. You draw sex, you talk about sex, you watch things with lots of sex in them. The problem is that you refuse to draw anything too sexual. You won't even draw nudity in a life drawing class. This is indicative of a strong mental block you've put up, and what that's doing is making all of your stuff look sterilized and boring. I think you just need to learn to accept your emotions. I'd rather see the fucked up insane creepy fuck Ryu-gi than the animu Ryu-gi. Oh and I agree, I just fucking love the way Giger paints stuff. It's just that cool metallic look, mixed with a sort of fogginess that gives it a menacing air. Love dat shit.
Fuck, I wish I could draw like you, at most.
I've seen a lot of HR Giger's work, actually. Beautiful, haunting imagery that really sticks in your head. I've taken some inspiration from his stuff in my monster designs.
Dude you say you don't have any butch manly men in your stories because you don't like them, but if you want to be successful you can't just do what appeals to you 100%, you have to do what appeals to other people as well, at least to an extent. Take, for example, Thomas the Tank Engine. Do any of the creators actually like anthropomorphic trains? Probably not. Was it incredibly successful? Yes. I mean sure, if you don't like what you're doing then you can't become attached to it, and you want the protagonist at least to be someone you like, sure, but if you only do the same character because that is the only character you like then 1) all your characters are the same and 2) anyone who doesn't like that sort of character will loathe your work because it won't have any characters they like or can relate to. Everyone is different, not everyone is you (fortunately).
I find characters that look like that hard to relate to.
:siren: SHOCKER :siren:

You really need to stop trying to live your ideal life through drawing your fantasies, you aren't a skinny ladylike elf who rapes other lady elves, you're a chubby Hawaiian or something, I don't know if drawing is what you want to do with your life but if it is this is the wrong way to go. Just stop drawing shit you fapped to earlier that day and you'll be more successful.
