Aphex Twin is overlooked. He's a modern electronic artist, and a genius in my opinion.

to be honest, he isn't overlooked at all

I beg to differ, and the argument of "he doesn't even play an instrument" is invalid here, because he's actually quite talented on the piano.

Actually listen through the whole thing.

Overlooked? Hmm, he's still one of my favourite musicians. I find most of the time with genres like IDM where artists have grounds to be either inane or brilliant, the most popular are usually the best. Simply because all the other artists akin to them are just cheap ripoffs. The only other IDM artist who can compare to Aphex Twin is Mu-ziq, and they're mates IRL. :D
People don't realize how hard it is to create the rhythm that he does with his machines, not to mention his awesome melodies and self programmed synths.

Exactly. I've seen numerous posts where people ask for "Automated Glitch musheens" so they can create beats 'wot Afex twin has' without investigating the art of circuit bending or programming. Regardless of rythm and dreamscapes, he does create some incredibly memorable melodies that I doubt any artists could copy without sounding wanky.

He's like the Joe Satriani of his genre. He keeps on coming up with so many different and original melodies.
blame MTV, they stopped showing music videos and started showing reality tv and music videos with commercials, I think MTVs quality was directly proportional to the shittiness of music on the timeline from 1980 or so to 1998-99 i think that was when it was at its worst.
In my opinion, there's no such thing as "bad" music since if it IS music, it's going to be liked by someone no matter how simplistic or complicated it is (which is what makes it so great, there's something for everyone). People who think that "good" music is defined by technical complexity and difficulty are full of bullshit. There's plenty of songs that I don't like with odd time signatures and weird structures, but if I showed the same songs to a progressive fan, they'd be in heaven.
I have yet to see any evidence against the fact that music is completely subjective. If a song sounds good to you, it is a good song. If it doesn't sound good to you, but sounds good to someone else, it is a good song.
screamo and emo sucks, just a bunch of lily white suburban kids complaining on how bad their life is over the stupidest things.
You're not thinking of actual emo and screamo. The stuff you're complaining about is just pop rock bands with 12 year-old frontmen (MCR and whatnot).

wtf u talkin bout
Here's something... Everyone is saying everything is dying, every few years it happens.
Music: It's dying.
PC Gaming: It's dying.
The whole fucking planet: It's dying.
The list litterally goes on forever. People have been saying this for longer than any of you have been alive.
NOTHING IS DYING. Music is alive and well, and yes, we have shitty bands, but there have ALWAYS been shitty bands, and there have always been people living in the past, and seriously stuck in the world of nostalgia. Here's some advice, Grow the fuck up, and get out of nostalgia, it makes things a hell of a lot worse than they are.

i like all musical genres, rock, rap, punk, nu metal, metal, etc. but i've never liked screamo or emo, it sounds annoying to me.
You really don't know what emo, or screamo is. Don't talk shit about it if you don't know what it is. Is death metal screamo shit too? I'm tired of that being lumped together.
Oh, king of page 8.

I was trying to say, the only other IDM artist who can (a verb signifying ability) compare (a verb indicating comparison) to Aphex Twin (widely regarded as one of the best musicians of all time) is Mu-Ziq (another IDM artist who knows Aphex Twin IRL and makes pretty damned good music).
Clear things up?

If people would just say "I THINK [insert genre] sucks ass" instead of "[insert genre] sucks ass"... It would reduce shit storms/pointless discussions...
Yeah but these discussions are fun to read..
I got tired of them, because they never end...
Thorny, I couldn't agree with you more, modern society is going downhill, FAST!
Just listen to this song, it makes you feel heroic in a way:
