I fixed my link. It has a strange melody play throughout it. [editline]3rd March 2011[/editline] And a crazy solo.
Pretty sick. It sounds compressed though. I have many other of these experiments; I am wondering if I should post 'em here, or if i should make separate threads for the.
Oh, you said image "editor". I thought you just put an image in there. I wonder if it would be possible to translate the sound back into an image... The implications would be huge!
I often rewrite sensitive documents/mindblowing porn as .mp3 and just swap file extensions to view properly again. I gotta test if it works with actually transcribing the files though, since changing an image to .mp3 via renaming is not listenable. what programs are being used to do this?

experiment with encoding and decoding .txt and .jpg files and let us know how that goes, haha

I'm currently listening to Dungeon Keeper II.
hot damn this is GOOD :monocle:
I tried opening Audacity.exe in Audacity. :v: only lasts for 3 seconds, though.
ok i made something similar and added some things, just for fun:
Sounds like your usual noise-speedcore.
I messed around with this stuff a while back and it only interested me for like a week, but this stuff works like a revers Histogram of the song, it uses the different pixel patters as a sort of waveshape and yes it is reversible, you can turn a song into a picture, I remember a while back, I saw a song that made the face of one of the band members in it, it is interesting and all but idk. Aphex Twin face: (skip to 5:27 for the face) I can't find a link to the program I used, but I know it had an image import and .mp3 or .wav output and also vice versa, but I also remember that it was a big hassle to find. :/ btw, it's called a spectrograph if anyone feels like finding a program
I put Fallout3.exe into Goldwave. Skip through a little bit and it sounds suspiciously like a bomb beeping and exploding, and a plane flying overhead. Woops, didn't realise this thread was 2 days old.
I have a sneaking suspicion this is how autechre makes their tunes... :p
This reminds me of the sound that my computer's LED makes when its light is recorded as sound by connecting a CDS Cell to a handheld recorder's microphone input: You can hear the disks spinning up, the PC Speaker (at 0:08), and all of the other devices that are drawing power. Even the background hiss is from the computer itself, as I had the recorder set to a relatively insensitive setting. Not to mention that the cell was literally pressed up against the light, effectively blocking out all other potential noise or hum sources.
You should hear MS Paint. [editline]2nd March 2011[/editline]
This is what you get if you're using the VOX ADPCM Codec
Someone put hl2 in there.
