My new game, I call it: "2D-mod"! =D (Need Game Maker to make your own stuff.)
79 replies, posted
I have been using it since I was eight. My sister was using it, so I decided I wanted it aswell. As I started to download others games, I started to pick up some of the code used for game maker. In time I started to have a greater understanding of game maker. I was fully using it by 9. So that's actually sort if 4 years experience. But, oh well. Long enough.
Enough of my life story.
Are you actually gonna have the balls to stop crtisicing me and ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THE GAME? This is why I created this board. Answering negative comments is starting to grow tedious.
Please stop answering in negative comments.
ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THE GAME?

3. You've not told us about any game "story". I.E what it is about?
I did :raise:
The proof:

And plus, why would I make this up? If I was I'd know you'd find out some time.

And I answered it. I just find you lack of faith disturbing.
Oh, and here's my plan:
Week 1:
Physics and weapon system.
Week 2:
Props and spawnlist
Week 3:
NPC's and Ragdolls
Week 4:
Figuring out an idea for the vehicle system.
Week 5:
Improving sprites.
Week 6:
Sending to public :D
Game maker.
Looks like a good game.
Let me see screenshot of the physgun.
Ok, you're not faking. That's a improvement.
Atleast work on it for more than 10 minutes before you post it.

There's a screenshot containing the temporary phsgun + cursor up there. ^
Enjoy. :D
I can't the see the picture. Post the link again.
This "^" is annoying me.
Once I post 2D-mod, please feel free to edit the .gm6 file by adding new props, new locations and new ideas. Once you're done post it on this topic so we can all play it. Call it a 'mod' if you want
Edit:
You click on the link. It should take you to the picture.
P.S, Is there a secondary fire on the fizzygun? I can't remember as I haven't played on Gmod for a while. Steam has been acting up again.

What link?
http://i27.tinypic.com/b55zqd.jpg <<<<<< That one.
And '^' means look up.

Yes, it freezes objects in place.
Looks like that is made in MS Paint.
But the "^" is annoying me.
And it doesn't mean to "look up".
Looks like that is made in MS Paint.
Already covered that. There should be a behind the scenes screenshot.
Already covered that. There should be a behind the scenes screenshot.
It's just a screenshot of garry's mod.
I've also started a rayman game. :D
I've also started a rayman game. :D
Oh great.
Why can't you just post another image of the "2D gmod"?
The Sprites are being worked on. The 'map' is a backdrop to give it that authentic feel. The 'Badly Drawn sprites' are only temporary. Still in mid-completion stage.
And also try saying that when i've completed the game and posted the link.
Meh.
I already have
A 2d physics/sandbox game would be nice.
If this works, it may be good.
Let this guy get on with his work, unless you have some proper questions.

Ok, turns out there was 7 more posts since i started looking at this thread.

Why did you quote your own post?
This is the saddest attempt at a game I've ever seen. Shame...

Thank you!
This is exactly the point of why I made this thread.
And because of all you lot negative slamming I have had less time to make my game prooving myself to you.
All I wanted was a simple FAQ and game launching thread.

NOT FINISHED. God, how many time have I said the word mid-developement?
If anyone else cares to leave a negative comment that isn't helping to improve my game I will not answer. I only need FAQ.
Will it be like GMOD/This
Do you expect to all of a sudden come up with a physics engine for your game? Its not like you just press a button and POOF, there it is.
It's not necessarily an engine, it's more or less a bunch of codes strung to gether to make the physics work.
Anyway, I've gotta go. Please, no more posts 'till Tommorrow.
^ Screenshots up there buddy.
So, maybe I am 13? Your point?
And maybe being not the best speller doesn't make me a bad person.
What are 'these things'?
If your going to be negative to others, please don't post here. It doesn't make anyone happier :(
< Still lovin' the avatar. :D
It's called criticism dude. Learn to spell and people will take your seriously. Also, I can't understand what the hell you're talking about. Describe things better, because from the looks of it you just have an idea for a game you want to make in Game Maker, but you have no content.

Hey. there is already a great 2d physics game. It's called Phun.

What physics! And the only one saying it's an engine is you, and your acting like if we post you have to respond or something.
Sorry for flaming so much but this is annoying.
Phun is very fun
Edit:
Sorry
I've been reading all the post in here and seemingly it looks like you just took a screen shot of Garry's mod and slapped two sprites on them. The glove probably taken. I'm still confused on how you are going to script for this game, because this would require some knowledge of C++ and C+ and other programming language. I recommend instead of going off with this "game". You should go buy a book that teaches you how. There's one called,"Game Programming for Teens." by Maneesh Sethi. It's basic but it will give you a kick start in the right direction.
"Post creative stuff you created"
You've posted a couple of shots of it, but they tell us nothing of the game itself because as you say the sprites are only WIP. So we're not seeing the gameplay, and we're not seeing the art direction of the game or anything. We haven't seen anything of it, and we can't really give you criticism or comments about it aside from the usual lines of "you're retarded lol" that you've already been getting until we play it or even see a moderately final screenshot demonstrating something about it.
And if you've really been using GM for 5 years, as you say, then why did you ask how to hide the cursor?
No no, it's my game.I'm working on it as we speak. But help WOULD be appriciated.
I.E How do you hide the cursor? (Bear in mind I have only got the unsuscribed Game maker. I should be suscrubing next week.)
And hammer is what you use to make maps, mate. Can you say, Tsuche? :P
PS It's not a mod per-say, it's an editable stand alone game which requires no engine ('Sept Game Maker, maybe :)).
Seriously, I made most of Phys-Box in less than six hours total work. Surely if you've got five years experience you should know how to hide the cursor in that program.
Like you say, can't give criticism until we've played. So maybe you should post something we can play before complaining that we're only giving bad feedback. We have nothing to give good feedback about and we're giving bad feedback about that fact, not the game.
Sorry, you need to Log In to post a reply to this thread.
