UrbanDictionary definition for "maori" doesn't say much for NZ either :v:

It is partially true, oddly enough. That's not to say that racism doesn't exist in NZ, it's just for the most part no one cares, that's what I was trying to say.

You have an ethnic minority in New Zealand that lives in poverty, you describe a viciously racist description of said minority as "partially true" and you claim that there is racism but nobody cares.
I guarantee someone cares, even if that someone isn't you.
And guess what, thisispain lives in South Central or some shit
nah i moved
i now live in a low-class area of san francisco
but yeah i don't think prejudice is good
and i survived the lowest of the low in england, where we were afraid to leave the house
Yes, Australia, the land of race riots against middle-easterners and virulent poverty and racism against the aboriginal community. Chill as tits.
Last two sound exactly like Canada
There's always gonna be "SkynrdFans" who click dumb and move on but my hope is always that there's a few lurkers or whoever who might at least think about it.
It also makes me feel better that there's at least someone making the progressive case instead of just a lot of affluent white kids standing around stroking their chins and nodding agreeably about how minorities need to stop complaining so much.
...
Aren't you, in this very post, stereotyping rich white kids to be the ones that disregard racism?
How can't you find this contradicting?

no he's stereotyping people that disregard racism as rich white kids

I'm pointing out that if a forum populated almost entirely by rich white kids comes to the conclusion that racism is not that big of a deal and minorities shouldn't complain so much about it, said conclusion could have some blind spots.

I'd say middle class white kids
no he's stereotyping people that disregard racism as rich white kids
What if I stereotyped the people complaining about racism as poor black people?
"The only people who complain about racism are black and poor."
What if I stereotyped the people complaining about racism as poor black people?
you can go ahead i don't really mind
you can go ahead i don't really mind
Well, it doesn't seem like something that would fly over well if you said it to someone
What if I stereotyped the people complaining about racism as poor black people?

What I'm trying to convey here is that a lot of white kids think racism doesn't really happen anymore and that it's not a big deal because they are white and all the white racists who run businesses, are teachers, cops, etc. are perfectly friendly to them.
It's like, what if a black dude went around saying that he didn't think skin cancer existed anymore and that it was just a ploy by people who wanted pity and attention and a bunch of other black dudes were like "yeah right on," that's how silly a group of white kids declaring that racism isn't a big deal is
I'm bisexual, but I've got a habit of using faggot, queer, dyke, ect. as joking insults, like if a friend says "Why wont this work for me?", "Because you're a faggot.".
I do get offended when someone uses it as an actual insult though.
I can't tell you what you can and cannot say. With that being said, I think that you should stop saying these words as it basically puts down LGBT people even if you're using it jokingly. If you identify yourself as LGBT why would you use a hateful word as a joke when you actually get upset at it's actual meaning?
probably because you aren't funny
it's not their fault they don't laugh at your shit jokes
for instance i hate misogynistic jokes because i don't find them funny, and i'll tell anyone who tells them that
Reminds me of a joke Sarah Silverman once said:
"Misogynistic jokes offend me, some of my best friends are cunts"
One of the few hilarious female comedians out there.
nobody here thinks racism doesn't exist. i don't know where you got that from.

tons of people i talk to hate her, but i think shes funny.

I don't think anyone believes that racism doesn't exist.
But to say that it is as serious as racism in the 50s and 60s is wrong as well (Not that you said that).

I still see placing a group (rich white kids) with a certain action (disregarding racism as a relevant issue) as stereotyping.

Yeah, I'm trying to be careful not to say anyone thinks it doesn't exist BUT a lot of people kind of take the attitude that racism is something that is Dealt With, because most people who are white and don't experience racism on a daily basis also aren't exposed to the kind of employment, housing, poverty etc. statistics that show how much of a factor it still is. As a society we've kind of shamed most people out of publicly using the n-word but that doesn't mean shit-tons of discrimination isn't still going on every day.

Yeah, but this is is a false equivalency that ducks the issue entirely. It's a cop-out.
Not everyone is the same amount of racist, and some people have a lot more power to enact their racism than others. It matters a lot more if an upper-level manager at Wells Fargo or a Senator is racist than it does if the janitor at a warehouse is racist, because the Wells Fargo manager and the Senator have the ability to set policy that will affect hundreds of thousands of people. And when almost everyone in the Senate and in powerful business positions is racist in the same direction, we start to have serious problems.

if you're posting this because you agree with it: you have no hope and you're just trying to justify your racism
If you wouldn't say it infront of the person, you probably shouldn't say it at all.
A majority of facepunch are geeks that wouldn't say half the things they post, cause honestly, a lot of it is racist. Just because you think it's funny, doesn't mean you can just pass it off as a joke.
Not saying everything posted is racist, but there isn't a lack of it.
facepunch is pretty racist tbh
are you implying that the reason people are poor and living in shitty conditions is because of racism? that's kinda the vibe im pickin up.

are you implying that racism isn't a factor when it comes to being poor and living in shitty conditions?
facepunch is pretty racist tbh
I think we're pretty tolerant TBH, unless you're talking about a racist joke or two once in a while.

Racism is a large factor in keeping certain races from rising to the top, and it needs to be dealt with if we are to live in an effective society. But it's certainly not the most important issue.
are you implying that racism isn't a factor when it comes to being poor and living in shitty conditions?
just how is it exactly?
