There was a fire in my town. [Pics inside] - General

I Live near the otay reservoir in so-cal. This place has been a hot spot for a ton of wildfires [media]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/72/Arial_View_of_Harris_Fire_10-23-07_1_pm.jpg[/media] This is a photo of the harris fire by the reservoir, my house is about a 1/3'rd mile away.

They cut holes in the roof for ventilation.

So? There's been plenty of fires in my town. I can name 3 right off the bat. Actually 4 if you count the mountain fire that burned for a few days (and left a neat yellowish red outline of the top of the mountain until it was extinguished).

The other reason why they would do this is to release smoke/create another entrance if there's someone inside.
