tell you what it's pretty.
Looks broken, to me...
I've been playing guitar for over 50 hours the last 6 days and my fingers are crying.
anyone that says alternate picking metallica riffs is ok is an idiot [editline]5th January 2014[/editline] tasty lickz
Okay this video captures what I haven't learned in like 4 years of playing. I know jack shit when it comes to scales and familiarity with the fretboard. I know the musical alphabet and that's about the extent of my musical knowledge. Where should I begin if I want to be able to jam with this video without just guessing notes.
Can anyone recommend to me how to become better at guitar? Im self taught, but Im at the point where I dont know what else to do to improve. I really only basic chords, not many barre chords and thats pretty much the extent of my knowledge. I can play a few simple songs, with strumming patterns close-ish to the original, but those are only easy songs like Heart of Gold, or Pulling on a line. Any tips besides practicing? Because I play a lot everyday, but I never improve.
Improvements are slow, small, and subjective. Practice every day for more than an hour and challenge yourself with some outlandish-seeming goals, as well as more moderate goals. Work to improve your strumming patterns by not listening to the song a few times while you play it, going off of memory, and then a couple of times listening to it. And challenge yourself with things you like and want to learn. Play some Hendrix or SRV for blues and do so slowly to learn. Play some Metallica for speed and for more technical challenge. And sometimes if it feels like you can't do anything right, just say 'fuck you' and play some random chords, and make some up and see what sounds good. Do weird hand gestures near the nut of the guitar and do some big stretches to see how much you really do improve on little things you never thought of, such as how many frets you can stretch from the first fret on the E and whatever fret on your A.
This song is fun to play. I can't do the solo though

Man I gotta say I am glad to see these guys back in the scene, I didn't much care for their album War Of Angels. Their new stuff is really appealing to me when I am more of a hard rock mood. And this song (which will make you never want to do heroine again) really reminds me of Alice in Chains. They sound like Saliva but they aren't shit
sounding like saliva while not being shit is physically impossible
I need to swap my strings to something like 10-46 or 10-56, I'd be happy if someone recommended some good strings that don't end up being filthy after a moment of playing. I got my guitar set up with 8's when it came in new, I should have asked them to set it up with thicker ones but I was too stoked to even think about it, that's like the thinnest strings I've ever played on, but sure it does train dexterity a lot especially when you want to tremolo pick that at a fast rate, at this moment I imagine the possibilities with thicker ones, I also hate the tone on such very light strings as there is no proper crunch and most settings really ruin the tone (finding balance is impossible, tone is mostly sounding very flat), the only thing I find them good at is more cleaner bluesy stuff as it makes even the slightest bends matter more and tone is quite glassy.

The second one reminds me of Shinedown and Three Days Grace.... :/ Something's wrong with my musical senses...
Incoming phone picture of new guitar [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/6dA8R.jpg[/img_thumb]

No it's just really...shiny Also I see my head in the pickups :v:

Musiciansfriend sent me GHS 10-52s instead of the 11-50s I ordered but whatever.
ok so uh what do I do when no matter what I do to the bridge of this guitar the intonation is off by about 8-10 cents
ok so uh what do I do when no matter what I do to the bridge of this guitar the intonation is off by about 8-10 cents
Start messing with nut height and bridge height or if you have the balls then you start messing with bridge placement.
well fuck so all this was happening on my '85 ibanez V which happens to have a bridge that they only produced for 2 years well the little post that attaches the low e string saddle to the base of the bridge snapped in two [editline]8th January 2014[/editline] so nobody makes parts for this obscure bridge that apparently wasn't all that great when it was new and whole bridges are going for around $250 on ebay

If something goes wrong I want to be able to easily replace or modify something to work. Hope you can get it figured out, I know that feel.
See if you can get a different cheaper bridge and have someone fit it.
OH NICE. My dad found an offer for a Line 6 Spider IV-30 for 200 eur with a 100 eur footpedal with wah in the price. Is it good? It'll be better than my Peavey 15w which cost about 40 eur and is has few controls. [editline]9th January 2014[/editline] Done deal! 180 eur for the whole package. :D My lovely but cheap Peavey will now be sitting in a corner for a while. Will get the thing before monday I believe.

Around that time not many people were complaining about them but around the time the third version came out people went nuts and started claiming it was the worst thing ever. To this day I still stand by the fact that the line 6 is one of the better beginner amps you can buy when it comes to features for money. And a good second hand one will be an even better value. My father has his Spider II to this day and still uses it daily as his everyday practice amp.
See if you can get a different cheaper bridge and have someone fit it.
the bridge is an oddball width that is actually wider than a floyd or any of its' licensed variants luckily my dad works at a fabrication company so I'm getting six of the little bastards machined to replace them all
