I need to swap my strings to something like 10-46 or 10-56, I'd be happy if someone recommended some good strings that don't end up being filthy after a moment of playing.
I got my guitar set up with 8's when it came in new, I should have asked them to set it up with thicker ones but I was too stoked to even think about it, that's like the thinnest strings I've ever played on, but sure it does train dexterity a lot especially when you want to tremolo pick that at a fast rate, at this moment I imagine the possibilities with thicker ones, I also hate the tone on such very light strings as there is no proper crunch and most settings really ruin the tone (finding balance is impossible, tone is mostly sounding very flat), the only thing I find them good at is more cleaner bluesy stuff as it makes even the slightest bends matter more and tone is quite glassy.
I play with Ernie Ball 10-46 strings, I sometimes put different ones on but they get the job done.
I'm about to hit the trigger on this 9 string for my birthday in march...
Line 6 spiders are a touchy subject here, BUT here is what I can tell you. My father bought a Line 6 Spider II 210 back when they came out. Around that time not many people were complaining about them but around the time the third version came out people went nuts and started claiming it was the worst thing ever. To this day I still stand by the fact that the line 6 is one of the better beginner amps you can buy when it comes to features for money. And a good second hand one will be an even better value.
My father has his Spider II to this day and still uses it daily as his everyday practice amp.
That's pretty good! I read very similar things on other sites.
We finally got it for 180 eur and my father got called a jew :v:
It's the amp which originally costs 215 eur here and the footpedal which costs 109 eur.
One hell of a deal! Will get it tomorrow if I'm lucky! :D
I suppose it's a good way to celebrate half a year of playing.
What are these power chords called? Stuff like 5-5-7, 5-5-9, 7-7-10 (low to high)
They sound p cool with cranked mids but i don't know a goddamn thing about theory

Fifth chords. They have the root note and a fifth interval. If you play with two fingers on the same fret (ie 5-5-7 instead of 5-7) then you have a root note, fifth interval and an octave of the root note.
Learned the intro to Money for Nothing, it sounds awesome and is surprisingly easy!

These will be mine in 2014. It must be done.
Can you guys recommend me a good acoustic guitar for around $100?
Can you guys recommend me a good acoustic guitar for around $100?
Epiphone DR-100 is what I'd suggest, my current guitar and it's pretty lovely. Most cheaper acoustic guitars tend to have a lot of issues, terrible tone and a higher action out of the box but the DR-100 felt so much higher quality than other guitars in the price range.

God damn I wish I could have seen Jeff Healey live before he died.
I'm tempted to get some replacement tuners for my Strat. Anyone know of some tuners that are a direct fit for a Bullet? I think I saw some Schallers that might fit but I'm not too certain.

How do you guys feel about using your pinky?
[editline]does this even work?[/editline]
Do you use it, yes, no?
Just curious
I have to, since I play upside down, sometimes the ring finger just doesn't reach :v:

Yeah I use mine all the time, I think it is really important to use it as often as you can. Keeps it useful instead of just getting in the way.

Those are some nice guitars.
Not sure how to feel about the pups on the 7 but we know chappers can't eq anything but a 6. (see: iron label vid)
Bea made it sound pretty good
I remember when the voting first started for the 7 strings, I think the headstock was maybe first, and I remember seeing that the tele headstock had won and I instantly knew it was going to basically be a telecaster with 7 strings.
I remember there was also supposed to be a Chapman bass but there hasn't really been any progress on that as far as I can tell. That would probably come out as a coffee table bass with active pickups and a preamp and all sorts of high end custom build stuff. In a way I'm glad I never put down a deposit for one of those.

Ignoring the fact that I play a lot of sus5 chords and power chords; yes. I use it in just about every chord I play somewhere. Unless you mean the strumming hand, in which case, no. I only use it to hook around my pickup/acoustic bridge when I'm palm muting to keep my hand in place.
I got my Spider IV!
It's awesome, although sounds much better through the speaker rather than headphones.
[editline]12th January 2014[/editline]
actually it's a billion times better without headphones
I want the telecaster ML-7 for reasons. And I want the ML-2 Classic for reasons. I don't have the money for this though.
Absinthe, I meant a human being not Paul Gilbert and Billy.
A guy who went to college with me but did the course below mine had an ML-1 and it was ridiculously heavy. I mean, one of my band's guitarists has an old Tokai Explorer that weighs a million tons and is made of a mahogany body and neck with a rosewood board, some replacement hardware and tuners, and SD Blackouts.
The stock ML-1 weighed more, and I have no idea how anyone could play that for a set.

Now.
(sort of trails off in the middle)
Same backing track, lots of playing and a brand new amp and guitar!
I don't understand why people have problems with the weight of guitars. It's at most, 11 pounds, and that's on a comfortable strap. I'm scrawny as hell and I have no problems with the weight of any guitars.
I seem to forget rakes and unison bends in my jamming :v:
